Introduction

American is the greatest country in the world because of its love and respect for Godly authority. Men and women of old spent countless hours upon their knees in prayer for our land. However, the same desire to serve has shifted from God The Father to god the figure.

In our land we have left the worship of God to worship gods in HIS place. America is the biggest culprit of them all. I will show you from the bible “The REAL AMERICAN IDOL.”

IDOL – An image or material object representing a deity to which worship is addressed.

DEITY – A person or thing revered as a god.

IMAGE – A physical likeness or representation.

OBJECT – Anything that is visible or tangible.

WORSHIP – Reverent honor and homage paid to God or any sacred or religious personage.

PRAYER – A devout petition to God or an object.

YIELD – To give place or submit.

SERVICE – To perform duties of an office.

HONOR – High respect, esteem, worth, merit or rank. To serve or preside as a host or to defer or yield to in submission.

RESPECT – To show regard or consideration.

DEFER – To put off action or yield to another.

ESTEEM – To consider as of a certain value, to value.

WHAT WE BRING WHEN WE WORSHIP

TIME – The duration regarded as belonging to the present, past or future.

TREASURE – Any wealth or riches accumulated or acquired.

TALENT – A special or natural ability or aptitude. A special skill

1) (3) MATERIAL THINGS

a) MOBILE DEVICES

i) Exodus 32:2 “And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.”

(1) People will spend more time with these than God.

(a) 10% of our time goes to God

(b) 10% of our talents go to God

(c) 10% of our treasure goes to God

(2) People have ties to these things more than to God.

(a) How much time do you spend on these things?

(b) How much time do you spend with God?

(c) How will you change this behavior?

(3) People have a difficult time giving up these things but have an easy time giving up on God.

b) MIGHTY DOLLAR

i) Exodus 32:3 “And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.”

(1) People will trade their talents for money.

(a) Shouldn’t God get the first use of your talents?

(2) People will sell their souls for money.

(a) Matthew 1:26 “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”

(3) People will trade their families for money.

c) MONSTROUS DEBAUCHERY

i) Exodus 32:25 “And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)

(1) People will trade their treasures for immorality.

(a) Most porn actor/actresses make about $250,000 yearly

(2) People that live for an immoral lifestyle will end up dying in disgrace.

(a) The average life expectancy of an American is 78.1 but the average life expectancy of a porn actor/actress is about 37.43 years. Most porn actors/actresses died of AIDS.

(2) MAN-MADE THEOLOGY / MORTAL THINKING

MODERN DENOMINATIONS

i) Exodus 32:4 “And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.”

(1) People will worship what doesn’t bring conviction

(a) The modern religions talk of God’s love but leave out the holiness of God.

(b) The churches that speak about the love of God only, miss the complete character of God.

(2) People will worship religion that doesn’t make them change

(a) True worship involves changing your sinful heart not making God except it.

(b) True worship requires one to be broken from their original state in order to be changed.

(3) People will worship when they can cling to their sin

MODERN DISCERNMENT

ii) Exodus 32:1“And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.”

(1) People will follow reason within themselves when they turn away from God.

(2) When people don’t see God, they will make up their own value and educational system.
