"The Real Amazing Grace"
Contributed by Brad Henry on Nov 9, 2011 (message contributor)
Summary: In order to be saved first of all you have to accept that you are lost. This lesson will show how awesome and what real Amazing Grace looks like.
Thank you for everyone who has written in on the “Rescue Story” - http://vimeo.com/31623306 Now that you have seen mine if you are a believer in Jesus Christ then YOU have a Rescue Story also. Everyone has an awesome story of being saved when we used to be lost for eternity. There is not one story that is boring. That is why you need to tell you story to others. It makes the song “Amazing Grace” come alive.
“Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.”
I used to be blind to the Lord’s power when I was an unbeliever. But no amount of persuading from others would MAKE ME repent. It is only God that changes a heart. It is only God who saves. Then it is only God who gives you His Holy Spirit and then your eyes are opened in the darkness and light prevails.
A lot of times we don’t even know we are lost (especially men?) but God knows. God desires the glory in our lives and especially when He saves us when we don’t deserved to be saved. That is “Grace”. That is “Amazing Grace”.
If today you feel alone even though you are around many people call out to the One who has left a part of your heart open that only He can fill. God made us that way so that we would not find fulfillment in this world. We try to fill that hole in our heart with things, trophy’s, accolades and other stuff but it is only the Lord that can bring fulfillment, purpose and heaven to your life.
If you are not saved and now realize that you are lost please read this verse.
Acts 2:21 “And everyone who calls upon the name of the lord will be saved.”
Let me try to dissolve a fallacy of some religions. Going to church, puting money in the offering plate, being kinds to others and being baptized WILL NOT get you into heaven. A great example of this is the thief on the cross. He had no time to do any of these things but Jesus allowed a “Thief” who was being crucified to enter heaven with Him. Why?
Luke 23:39-43 “One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.”
The criminal was saved because he believed that Jesus was the Christ and God in the flesh. All the other things we do in this life are out of thanks for what Jesus has done for us as we can’t get in any better position with Jesus if we are saved. If you are not sure if you are saved or finally God has opened your heart then please pray this prayer with me.
“Lord, I believe you died on the cross and rose from the dead to pay the penalty for my sins and to purchase a place for me in heaven. Please forgive my sins and help me to have joy and hope in my life. I have tried so many things to be happy and I know that true happiness will never come apart from you. Lord please come into my life , change me and give me your hope. Thank you Lord for saving me.” Amen
If you have prayed this prayer and it is the desire of your heart please let me know so we can send you information to help you grow in your faith. You are NOW, Saved and Sealed for eternity! There is no other decision in this universe that is more important than this one. Make this the day.
“Whoever Calls Upon The Name Of The Lord Will Be Saved”
Have a joyful day and don’t let anyone steal your peace.
