Summary: Though we do not know the answer to all the whats and whys in this life we do know that God has a purpose for everything that happens.

The Purposes of God

Daniel 4:28-37

Nebuchadnezzar in his pride boasted about what he had done in building such a great kingdom and God caused him to lose his sanity a put him among the beast of the fields. When he regains his sanity he comes to the understanding that God’s purposes are accomplished in the affairs of man according to His divine will.

Vs.35 He doeth according to His will…

Psalms 115:3 But our God is in the heavens: He hath done whatsoever He hath please

Mention: Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out

Also: Isaiah 46:10 My counsel shall stand and I will do all My pleasure

Though we do not know the answer to all of the whys in this life we do know that God has a purpose for everything that happens.

Mention: Romans 8:28 We are called according to His purpose

See: Ephesians 1:11 According to purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will.

Mention: Matt. 26:39-43 “Not as I will, but as thou wilt” “O My Father if this will not pass away from Me, except I drink it, thy will be done”

I find that there are three primary people groups that “The Purposes of God” are fulfilled in.

1. God’s purpose in a Nation

See: Genesis 12:1-3

Then: Exodus 4:22

And: Deut. 7:6

No other nation has been so privileged as the nation of Israel!

a. God’s Covenant

See: Acts 3:25-26

See: Romans 3:1-2

See: Acts 13:44-46 unto the Jew first…

All of the 40 earthly writers were Jews who God used to write the 66 books of the Bible

b. God’s Son

See: Romans 9:4-5

Jesus in His incarnation would be born a Jew from the tribe of Judah

c. God’s Commitment

The Jews for the most part have rejected the deity of Christ, but God is and will always be committed unto them.

See: Romans 11:1-2a God has not and never will cast them away

See: Jeremiah 33:20-21 This covenant is one that will never be broken unless someone can remove the covenant of the day and night.

God’s purposes have much to do with this nation called Israel!

Mention: Zech. 2:8 God says whosoever toucheth Israel toucheth the apple of God’s eye.

2. God’s purpose in the Church

See: Matt. 16:18 first mentioned of the church

And: Acts 20:28 Purchase by the blood of Jesus Christ

Mention: Matt. 13:45-46 The church is the pearl of great price

a. The Witness

Matt. 5:13-14 We the church is the salt and the light of this world

John 14:12 The greater works I believe is winning lost souls to Christ

Because the Jews have rejected Jesus the Christ we the Church are given the responsibility to preach the gospel as witnesses of Christ.

b. The Wedding

Mention: 2 Cor. 11:2 Espoused to one husband

The one day will become the bride of Christ!

3. God’s purpose in the World

a. Put away Sin

Mention: 1 Tim. 1:15

Luke 19:10

1 John 3:8 Destroy the works of the devil

b. Peace

Romans 5:1 Peace with,

Phil. 4:7 Peace of

Isaiah 9:7 Peace with no end from God
