This sermon explores God's purpose in every season of change, encouraging trust in His guidance and promises, and the growth that comes from embracing change.

Introduction

Good morning, beloved family of God. It's a joy to gather together with you today, as we seek to understand the wisdom and purpose that God has woven into the very fabric of our lives. We find ourselves in a world that often seems to be spinning out of control, where change is the only constant and uncertainty the only guarantee. Yet, in the midst of this whirlwind, we are not left without a compass, without a guiding star. We have the Word of God, a beacon of unchanging truth in a changing world.

Our Scripture passage today is found in Ecclesiastes 3:1, "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." This verse, penned by Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, reminds us that God has a purpose for every season of our lives, even when we can't see it. It assures us that nothing is random or meaningless in God's grand design.

How often do we find ourselves wrestling with the winds of change, trying to hold onto what is familiar and comfortable? Yet, isn't it in the midst of change that we often find God's purpose for us becoming clearer? Isn't it in the uncertainty of change that we are drawn closer to God, as we seek His guidance and trust in His promises?

Perceiving the Purpose in Change

When we find ourselves in the midst of change, it can be challenging to see beyond the immediate circumstances. We may feel overwhelmed, uncertain, or even fearful. Yet, it is in these moments that we are invited to look for the purpose that God has for us.

The first thing we need to remember is that change is a part of God's design for our lives. Just as the seasons change in nature, so do the seasons of our lives. This is not a random or chaotic process, but a divinely orchestrated one. God, in His infinite wisdom and love, uses change to shape us, to grow us, and to bring us closer to Him.

In the midst of change, we may be tempted to focus on the loss or the uncertainty. But God invites us to shift our focus. Instead of looking at what we are losing, we are encouraged to look for what God is doing. What new opportunities is He opening up? What new growth is He fostering in our hearts and lives? What new aspects of His character is He revealing to us?

This shift in perspective doesn't come naturally. It requires faith. It requires trust in God's goodness and His promises. It requires a willingness to let go of our plans and our understanding, and to embrace God's plans and His understanding. As we do this, we begin to see that change is not something to be feared, but something to be embraced. We begin to see that change is not an end, but a beginning.
