Explore and understand God's perfect timing, the power of faith, and the purpose of delay in our lives.

Introduction

Good morning, family! We've got an exciting exploration before us today, as we dive into Mark 5:22-41, a passage teeming with truth about God's perfect timing, the power of faith, and the purpose of delay.

As Germany Kent once said, "With God, there’s always an appointed time for things, and when you put Him first, trust in His timing, and keep the faith, miracles happen!" This rings so true in our passage today.

Let's take a moment to read this account together:

Let's bow our heads in prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father, as we delve into Your Word today, we ask for enlightenment to understand the lessons You want us to glean from this passage. Help us to see the beauty of Your perfect timing, even in the midst of delay. Strengthen our faith in Your power to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we could ask or think. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.

Let's dive in!

God's Timing is Perfect

The concept of God's perfect timing is a recurring theme throughout the Bible, and it's beautifully illustrated in our passage today. In the story of Jairus and his daughter, we see a desperate father pleading with Jesus to heal his dying child. Jesus agrees to go with him, but along the way, He is interrupted by a woman who has been suffering for twelve years. This delay must have been agonizing for Jairus, who knew that every moment counted. Yet, in the grand scheme of things, this delay was part of God's perfect timing.

Not our timing: We live in a world that values speed and efficiency, where delays are seen as inconveniences or even failures. But God operates outside of our human understanding of time. He sees the bigger picture and knows exactly when to act for the greatest good. In the case of Jairus, the delay allowed for a powerful demonstration of faith by the woman who touched Jesus' cloak. It also set the stage for an even greater miracle - the raising of Jairus' daughter from the dead.

Perfect in its precision: In the story, the woman had been suffering for twelve years - the same number of years that Jairus' daughter had been alive. This is not a coincidence, but a testament to God's meticulous orchestration of events. The woman's healing and the girl's resurrection were perfectly timed to happen at the same moment, revealing God's power and mercy in a profound way.

Perfect in its purpose: Every delay, every detour, every seeming setback in our lives has a purpose in God's grand plan. In this story, the delay brought healing to the woman, tested and strengthened Jairus' faith, and resulted in a greater miracle that astonished the crowd and glorified God.

Perfect in its provision: In the midst of the delay, Jesus provided comfort and assurance to Jairus, telling him, "Don't be afraid; just believe." Even when things didn't seem to be going according to plan, Jesus reassured Jairus that He was in control and that His timing was perfect.

Perfect in its promise: Jesus promised Jairus that his daughter would be healed, and despite the delay, He fulfilled that promise. This reminds us that no matter how long we have to wait, God always fulfills His promises in His perfect timing.

Understanding can be challenging: Especially when we're in the midst of a difficult situation or a long wait. But stories like this one remind us that we can trust in God's timing, even when it doesn't make sense to us.

The Power of Faith

Faith, as defined in Hebrews 11:1, is "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
