THE PROGRESSIVE NATURE OF SIN
Gen 4:19-24
19 And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
20 And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle.
21 And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.
22 And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.
23 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.
24 If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.
(KJV)
Rom 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
(KJV)
Gal 6:7
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
(KJV)
Gal 6:8
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
(KJV)
Rom 7:19-25
19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
(KJV)
*** THERE WAS A COLLEGE STUDENT WHO MAJORED IN ZOOLOGY AND KEPT FRUIT FLIES IN SPECIMEN DISHES.
*** IN THE COURSE OF THE SEMISTER THEY MULTIPLIED, FILLING THE DORMROOM.
*** SIN SEEMS TO MULTIPLY LIKE FRUIT FLIES, CREATE ONE SIN AND IT TAKES YOU TO MORE SIN.
*** UNTIL AFTER A WHILE YOU BECOME FAMILIAR WITH SINNING.
*** SIN DOESN’T LOOK SO BAD ANYMORE.
*** Lamech he was fifth in decent from Cain, the son of Methushael, Lamech took two wives Adah & Zillah and became the first to practice polygamy!
*** He broke the original law of marriage—that two should be one flesh.
*** To start on the path to deviate from God’s laws it’s the perfect way to open up to all manner of temptations.
*** Jacob, David and others were drawn into the sin of Lamech.
*** When a bad custom is begun, men of better character are sometimes drawn into following them.
*** Though Lamech sinned he was blessed with children from both wives who became famous in their generation but………
*** Not for their holiness but for their ingenuity.
*** JABAL-A famous shepherd: He devised methods of keeping cattle to the best advantage and instructing others in them.
*** Jabal set them in a way to be rich.
*** JUBAL—A famous musician; particularly an organist: The first that gave rules for the art or science of music.
*** Jubal—Jubilee; it is possible that the Jubilee trumpet was named after him.
*** Jubal set them in a way to be merry.
*** TUBAL CAIN---A famous smith; he greatly improved the art of working in brass and iron for the service of both war and husbandry.
*** Here was a father of shepherds, a father of musicians, but not a father of the faithful.
*** Here was one to teach in brass and iron but none to teach the good knowledge of the Lord.
*** Here were devices how to be rich, and how to be merry, and how to be mighty but nothing of God, nor of His fear and service among them.
23 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.

*** How haughtily and imperiously he speaks to his wives as one who expects a mighty reward and observerance.
*** He killed a young man for merely wounding him, then made worse his sin by self-justification.
