Summary: This sermon will be preached to show that Christ's birth was proclaimed by the angels to various people; we must be God's messengers of peace and hope today.

Scripture Reading-

Intro: The word angel is translated to mean, "messenger". Their sole purpose is to bring people messages from God.

I. Proclamation of Hope

Anchor verse: Luke 1:32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David

In this verse, Gabriel announces to Mary that she will be the mother of the Messiah, the hope for the Hebrew people and ultimately the whole world.

II. Proclamation of Grace

Anchor verse: Matthew 1:20b Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

This is a proclimation of grace because Joseph was considering to divorce Mary because she was pregnant. Gabriel was telling Joseph to give Mary grace and keep her as his wife.

III. Proclamation of Celebration

Anchor verse: Luke 2:10 Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.

Good News! Great Joy!! A choir of angels join in after this angel of the Lord announces this to the shepherds.
