Explores the perfection, power, and permanence of the peace given by Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, and its impact on our lives.
Good morning, beloved congregation. It is truly a blessing to be gathered here together, in the house of the Lord, on this beautiful day. As we gather in fellowship, we are reminded of the enduring love that binds us, the shared faith that unites us, and the common hope that propels us forward. It is this hope, this faith, and this love that we find in the Prince of Peace, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Edwin Louis Cole once said, "Peace is the umpire for doing the will of God." How profound and yet how simple! It is peace, the very peace that our Lord Jesus Christ gives us, that guides us, that reassures us, that strengthens us in our walk with God.
Let us turn to the words of the prophet Isaiah, who, inspired by the Holy Spirit, penned these powerful words of prophecy about our Lord Jesus Christ. Isaiah 9:6 says,
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
In this passage, we see the prophetic promise of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. The peace that He brings is not just any peace, it is a peace that surpasses all understanding. It is a peace that is perfect, powerful, and permanent. It is a peace that can only come from God.
As we turn our hearts and minds to the perfection of the peace that our Lord Jesus Christ offers, we find ourselves standing on holy ground. This peace is not like the peace that the world gives. It is a peace that is perfect in every way. It is a peace that is complete, lacking nothing. It is a peace that is whole, leaving no room for fear, worry, or doubt.
It’s born out of the very nature of God Himself: It is a peace that reflects the perfect love, the perfect grace, and the perfect mercy of God. It is a peace that is as perfect as the One who gives it. It is a peace that is as perfect as our Lord Jesus Christ.
The words of Isaiah: He tells us that the child who is born, the son who is given, will be called the Prince of Peace. This title, Prince of Peace, speaks volumes about the nature and character of our Lord Jesus Christ. It tells us that He is not just a bringer of peace, but He is the very source of peace. He is the one who has the authority and the power to grant peace. He is the one who has the ability to establish peace. He is the one who has the capacity to maintain peace.
What it means for Jesus to be the Prince of Peace: When we think of a prince, we think of someone who has authority, someone who has power, someone who has influence. A prince is someone who can command and people will listen. A prince is someone who can decree and things will happen. A prince is someone who can rule and people will follow. In the same way, when Jesus is called the Prince of Peace, it means that He has the authority, the power, and the influence to grant peace. It means that He can command peace and it will come. It means that He can decree peace and it will happen. It means that He can rule with peace and people will follow.
This is a peace that is perfect: This is a peace that is complete. This is a peace that is whole. This is a peace that surpasses all understanding. This is the peace that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, gives. But what does it mean for this peace to be perfect? It means that this peace is without flaw. It means that this peace is without defect. It means that this peace is without blemish. It means that this peace is without fault. It means that this peace is without error. It means that this peace is without mistake.
Why perfect?: This peace is perfect because it comes from a perfect God. It comes from a God who is holy. It comes from a God who is righteous. It comes from a God who is just. It comes from a God who is good. It comes from a God who is love. This peace is perfect because it reflects the perfect character of God. It reflects His perfect love. It reflects His perfect grace. It reflects His perfect mercy. It reflects His perfect justice. It reflects His perfect goodness. It reflects His perfect holiness.
It accomplishes the perfect purpose of God: It accomplishes His purpose for us to be reconciled to Him. It accomplishes His purpose for us to be reconciled to others. It accomplishes His purpose for us to be reconciled to ourselves. It accomplishes His purpose for us to be reconciled to this world. It accomplishes His purpose for us to be reconciled to the world to come.
As we continue to reflect on the peace that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, offers, we find ourselves drawn to the power of this peace ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
