II. Step One: Confession (1-4)
a. Appeal to God’s Mercy “Loving Kindness”
b. David knew his Sins and knew whom his sins were against.

III. Step Two: Forgiveness (5-9)
a. David asked God to for give him
b. “Purify me with Hyssop”
i. The word “purify” literally means “unsin”
ii. Hyssop- used for ritual cleansing of persons healed of leprosy.
IV. Step Three: Restoration (10-13)
a. David prayed for restoration. He knew he needed more than just forgiveness.
V. Step Four: Worship (14-17)
a. In true repentance we should worship God for what he has done for us.
VI. Step Five: Leadership (18-19)
a. David prayed for his role as a King.
b. We should pray for our roles as father, mother, deacon,
c. Burnt offerings were the way they repented from their sins.
VII. Conclusion
a. Today it is not a burnt offering that will make you right with God.
