The Prayer Of David (Plan Of Action)

Summary: Psalms 51 is basically a Prayer by the Pslamist King David when Nathan the Prophet went and rebuked him for his sin of adultery against Bathsheba. That is where he prays and asks God to forgive his sin, his transgression and his iniquity.
When we look from Psalms 51:10-12, we come across 06 verbs. Verbs are originally action oriented.
1. Create in me a clean heart.
He prayed that the Lord would create in him a clean heart. Why do we need our hearts to be clean? Because our relationship with God is linked to the purity of heart. In Psalms 24:3-4 says that who has a clean heart alone can enter His presence. Very often we take God's Presence casually and lightly. His presence is a reality. He is not a fiction.Tthe Lord Jesus said, "where two or three gather in His Name He is there." He is literally present. And where His Presence is there is deliverance, there is liberty. We need to pray everyday that God would create in us a clean heart. We need to guard our hearts because from the heart springs the issues of life.
2. Renew a right spirit within me.
King David prayed and asked God to renew his spirit. One Bible version says that he asked for a steadfast spirit. Renewal is very important. Paul the Apostle talks about renewing of the mind. It is very essential that we renew our thinking process. It is God alone who can renew our mind.
3. Cast me not away from thy Presence.
This is very important for us to know. He prayed that he would never be cast away from the Presence of God. His presence is the best place in the whole of the world. David knew the importance of the presence of God. He also said that one day in his Courts was better than a thousand years elsewhere. He also expressed his sole desire that he wanted to dwell in the presence of God forever and ever. There is no better place than His presence. I call His presence as the best.
4. Take not thy Holy Spirit from me.
This Prayer is very important. Why did David pray and plead God that His Holy Spirit would not be withdrawn from him? It is also stated in the Word of God that the Holy Spirit was taken away from Saul and an evil spirit tormented him. David was a Lover of God and His Spirit. He ensured that He was never taken away. He would not tolerate if the Holy Spirit was withdrawn from him. He knew the importance of the Spirit of God and also His working power. Why was the Holy Spirit taken away from Saul? It was because of his own disobedience.
5. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation.
That which has been lost can alone be restored. Many a times we lose our joy, our peace, our health and so on. Some people are no more excited in their salvation. It becomes a one time affair. Some believe in 'once saved always saved' concept. But as responsible individuals we need to work on our salvation each day. Our God is a God of restoration. We must ensure that we do not compromise with that which has been lost. Let us pray that the God of restoration would restore back everything.
6. Uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
When God upholds us no man can stand against us. God needs to be our Stronghold. We cannot allow the devil to work against our lives. When God upholds us the influence of the evil one will not have the grip over us. God needs to uphold us, our families and our finances and so on. He is a Loving God, full of compassion, rich in love, overflowing with mercy for those who call upon His Name. Let us re work on our lives and ensure that the Lord would be the sole ruler of our lives and none else.
God bless you abundantly !!!
