Youth Sermon: The Prayer of Agur

TRUTH

First off, Agur asks God to keep him away from lies. He knows the world is full of fake news and he doesn't want to fall for it. He wants God to keep his ears clean from hearing lies and his mouth from speaking them. He knows God is all about truth and he wants to be on Team Truth.

He knows God is all about truth and he wants to be on Team Truth.

BALANCE

Next, Agur asks for a balanced life. He doesn't want to be super rich or super poor. He just wants enough to get by. He knows that if he's too rich, he might forget about God and think he's all that. But if he's too poor, he might be tempted to steal and make God look bad. He's looking for that sweet spot where he can trust God to take care of him and not be all about the bling.

Now, let's imagine life as a tightrope. If you lean too much to one side, you'll fall off. But if you stay balanced, you can walk across without a problem. That's what Agur is asking for - balance. Not too much, not too little, just enough.

CONTENTMENT LEADS TO EMPOWERMENT

Agur's prayer isn't about playing it safe or being boring. It's about finding that sweet spot where we can trust God and chase our dreams. When we're cool with what God gives us, we can go after our dreams without fear. We don't have to stress about success or failure because we know God's got our back.

So here's the deal: God made you for a reason. He gave you talents and gifts to use for Him. Don't be scared to go after what you love and what you're good at. That's where you can make a difference. Whether it's dancing, writing, building, planting, or hugging, do it with all you've got and for God's glory. Be you and give God the credit when you succeed.

So let's remember Agur's prayer and make it our own. Let's ask for truth, balance, and contentment. When we trust God and use our gifts for Him, we can live a life that's full and meaningful.
