THE POWER OF JESUS OVER DARKNESS

Luke 11:14-28

Introduction:

Raise your hand if you have ever played the game, “King of the Hill”. If you do not know about this game, it is pretty simple- You find a pile of dirt and you fight and wrestle with each person to make it to the top of the hill. When I was a skinny kid, I still could find my way to the top because I was willing to do whatever it took to win. I also learned that once you made it to the top, it was really tough to stay there.

Our passage today, shows how powerful Jesus is over darkness. In this story, Jesus demonstrates His strength by casting out evil spirits, or demons. His presence alone can chase away darkness and bring light. This reminds us that Jesus is not only a healer and teacher but also stronger than any evil. He offers hope and victory to everyone who believes in Him. No matter how dark things may seem, Jesus’s light can break through and bring us hope, freedom, and peace.

1. Demonstrates authority over Satan’s hold.

We see Jesus demonstrating His divine authority by casting out a demon, revealing that His power surpasses even the darkest forces of evil rooted in spiritual rebellion against God.
