A teaching on: 1. The Importance, 2. The Power, 3. The Spirituality of anointed music in ministry.
Today, I want to discuss the significance, power, and spirituality of anointed music in ministry.
Let's begin by looking at three Scripture passages: 2 Kings 3:14-15, 2 Chronicles 20:22, and 2 Chronicles 5:13-14.
In 2 Kings 3:14-15, we see the prophet Elisha calling for a musician. Despite not being a singer or musician himself, Elisha recognized the importance of music in preparing his heart and mind to receive from the Lord.
Music has a profound impact on our spirits. In 1 Samuel 16:23, we read how David's harp playing brought refreshment and drove away an evil spirit tormenting King Saul. This demonstrates the power of anointed music in pushing back spiritual darkness.
Throughout the Bible, we are encouraged to incorporate music into our worship and praise. Matthew 26:30 tells us that Jesus and His disciples sang a hymn during the Last Supper. Ephesians 5:19 and Colossians 3:16 urge us to sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, allowing the Word of Christ to dwell richly within us.
Anointed music holds great power. In 2 Chronicles 20:22, we witness how singing and praising God led to divine intervention against their enemies. Acts 16:25-26 recounts how Paul and Silas' prayers and songs of praise caused an earthquake that freed them from prison. These examples highlight the ability of anointed music to bring forth miracles and deliverance.
It is crucial to recognize that music is not mere entertainment in church and worship settings. Music is inherently spiritual and affects our spirits. We must be cautious about the songs we sing, as they can either bring life or death to our spirits. Isaiah 51:11 reminds us that the redeemed of the Lord will return with singing, obtaining everlasting joy while sorrow and mourning flee away.
We should be mindful of the words we sing, ensuring they align with the truth of God's Word. Our confession of faith should extend to the songs we choose, avoiding defeatist and sorrowful lyrics. Instead, let us sing of our redemption and the joy of the Lord as our strength.
In conclusion, I hope this message emphasizes the importance of singers and musicians in reaching the lost and leading the church into God's presence. It is vital for those involved in music ministry to understand their calling and seek anointing. Additionally, as believers, we must be discerning about the music we listen to daily, as it significantly impacts our spiritual strength.
