Summary: The LORD has preserved for us the portrait of a godly mother who left a sacred legacy of faith for her son even as God intervened in her life through Elijah.

1. She was CHOSEN by God for this particular task. (vv. 8-9) appointed, selected Hebrews 5:4; Deuteronomy 7:6-8; John 15:16; Matthew 11:27; 1 Thessalonians 5:9; Romans 8:29; Matthew 22:14; Acts 9:15; Galatians 1:15-16; 1 Peter 2:9
