Youth Sermon: The Permenence of Love

Introduction

Today, we're gonna talk about how love isn't just a one-time thing, but something that lasts forever. To get us started, let's talk about Mother Teresa, a woman who really knew what it meant to love.

Mother Teresa was all about humility, kindness, and compassion. She lived out the kind of love we're supposed to show as followers of Jesus. Today, we're gonna focus on how our choices can have a lasting impact and why love should be at the center of everything we do.

Love is one of the few things that will last forever.

Love in the Bible

Do you remember Jesus' greatest commandment? To love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Jesus made it simple for us. Love is one of the few things that will last forever.

Imagine you have a $20 bill. You can spend it on something that will last a day, like a movie ticket, or you can invest it in something that will last longer, like a book. Love is like that book. It's an investment that lasts.

You've probably heard about the 'love' chapter in 1 Corinthians 13. Paul tells us that love never fails. It's not like other things that fade away. We often focus on things that won't last, just like the Corinthians did with their spiritual gifts. We need to remember what really matters and not lose sight of Jesus' command to love God and love people.

Love in Our Lives

Think about something you used to think was super important. Has your perspective changed over time? Have you started to focus more on love?

As we grow up, we start to realize that only a few things really matter in life. Our stuff and our jobs aren't as important as the people around us. Paul compares our current understanding to seeing a dim reflection in a mirror. We don't fully get it yet, but we can trust what God has told us.

Re-Read 1 Corinthians 13:13: Paul tells us that the greatest of these three things that will remain is love. Love is who God is, and it will last even when everything else is gone. If we don't love, we don't really know Him.

God is Love: Love is who God is. It's in everything He does. When everything else is gone, God's love will still be there. We believe that we'll spend forever with God, surrounded by His love.

Love has changed our lives in so many ways. We've experienced forgiveness and compassion because of love. Our challenge is to love others like Jesus loved us.

Love is talked about a lot in songs and movies, but we might not really get how important it is in the gospel. God's love for us is why Jesus came to earth. Love is the greatest commandment, and it's even more important than faith and hope.

Think about how love is present in your life. How do you show love to God and others? If you're struggling with love, talk to someone about it. Don't let anything stop you from loving.

Look at where you're spending your time, energy, and money. Do they show your love for God and people? Make a plan to make sure your priorities line up with love.

And if you've never heard it before, know this: God loves you. He loves you no matter what. God is love, and His love for you never changes.

God is love, and His love for you never changes.
