Encourages believers to honor God with their whole being, experience His love deeply, and actively engage with His word to transform their lives.
Welcome, dear friends, to this blessed gathering where we come together to reflect, to learn, and to find solace in the word of God. We are here, not by happenstance, but by divine appointment. The same God who, in His infinite wisdom, set the stars in the heavens and painted the skies with the colors of the sunset, has called us together today to share in His word and to draw closer to Him.
As we gather in this sacred space, we turn our hearts and minds to the book of Psalms, specifically Psalm 96:8, which reads,
"Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name; bring an offering and come into His courts."
This verse is a beautiful reminder of our calling as believers to honor God, not just with our words, but with our entire being.
Billy Graham once said, "Our voices, our service, and our abilities are to be employed, primarily, for the glory of God." Our focus today will be on this very sentiment - honoring God with everything we have, our love for Him manifested through Christ, and our heartfelt dedication to Him.
We are not here to merely skim the surface, but to fully immerse ourselves in the profound depths of God's love. We are not here to simply learn about God, but to truly know Him, to experience His love, His grace, His mercy in our lives. And we are not here to passively receive, but to actively engage with God's word, to let it shape us, to let it change us.
We find ourselves in a world that is constantly asking for our attention, our time, our resources. It's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. But in the midst of all this, we are called to a higher purpose - to honor God with everything we have. This is not a call to a one-time act, but a lifelong commitment. It's about making God the center of our lives, about dedicating every moment, every resource, every talent to His glory.
What does it mean to honor God with everything? It's about more than just going to church on Sundays or saying a quick prayer before meals. It's about living out our faith in every aspect of our lives. It's about making God the priority in everything we do. It's about using our talents, our resources, our time for His glory. It's about living a life that reflects His love, His grace, His mercy.
Honor God with our time: Time is a precious commodity, one that once spent, can never be regained. Yet, how often do we waste it on things that don't really matter? How often do we prioritize our own desires over God's will? To honor God with our time means to dedicate our days to His service. It means to spend time in prayer, in studying His word, in serving others. It means to make the most of every opportunity to glorify God.
Honor God with our talents: Each one of us has been blessed with unique abilities and gifts. Some of us are gifted speakers, others are talented musicians, others still are blessed with the ability to encourage and uplift others. These talents are not meant to be hidden away, but to be used for God's glory. To honor God with our talents means to use them in service to Him and to others. It means to use our abilities to spread His love, to share His word, to build up His kingdom.
Honor God using our resources for His glory: This includes our financial resources, our possessions, even our very lives. We are stewards of what God has given us, and we are called to use these resources wisely and for His glory. This means giving generously to those in need, supporting the work of the church, and living a lifestyle that reflects our commitment to God.
Honor God by living a life that reflects His love: It means to treat others with kindness and compassion, to forgive as we have been forgiven, to love as we have been loved. It means to live out the teachings of Jesus in our everyday lives, to strive to be more like Him in all we do.
