THE OLD MAN IS DEAD. SO QUIT TRYING TO WAKE HIM UP!

Trying to train the old nature is as fruitless as going to a cemetery and trying to get its inhabitants to sing the national anthem!

The Church is running around trying to wake up the old man, trying to train him to do well!

The Old man is dead, quit trying to wake him up!

2 Cor 5:16-19

16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

You are a new creation if you are in Christ. A new Species in fact! We might still live in the old body but our Spiritual man is brand new!

Jesus crucified the old man he doesn’t exist any more, So why do we spend so much time on self improvement programs for the Old man?

We need to establish right now that the old man is dead and therefore can’t change!

When was the last time you went down to the cemetery and saw a whole lot of reformed dead people!

It just doesn’t happen

Last year I can remember the fuss in the scientific world about the discovery of some new species in the highland jungles of New Guinea. The thing about new species is that they are NEW and different from the old!

So we are a new creation! But in an old body!

In other words we now bridge the gap between that which is natural and that which is Spiritual

Our old bodies now have the ability to see and partake of the Spiritual realm.

Seeing and Living in the Spirit should now be a normal part of our new life!

And our hearts cry should be to see the inheritance that God has for us in Christ. That our eyes would be enlightened!

Eph 1:16-18

16 I have never stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, 17 asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. 18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the wonderful future he has promised to those he called. I want you to realize what a rich and glorious inheritance he has given to his people.*

Eph 2:6

6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ, and we are seated with him in the heavenly realms—all because we are one with Christ Jesus. 7 And so God can always point to us as examples of the incredible wealth of his favor and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us through Christ Jesus. God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

The key to knowing His calling and desire for our lives is found in having the eyes of our heart opened to see what he sees for us! To see that we sit in heavenly places with him!

‘What you see is determined from the place you sit”

If our hearts are bound to the things of this earth then the eyes of our heart will see earthly things!

If our hearts are fixed on Jesus and the realm he now lives in, then our eyes will see things from His perspective!

What is His perspective? It’s a Spiritual perspective! It’s seen from being seated in heavenly places with him!

1) If we don’t see things from a Spiritual perspective then it’s like living in a house with fantastic views, but choosing to live in a room with no windows! Our perspective will be “This is a dull and dark place”!

How many in the Church have that viewpoint about God? Lots because they choose not to partake of all that is available in the Spiritual realm!

2) If we choose to sit in a night club and mix with drunken people, then our perspective of excitement will be “This is fun”
