This sermon's main point is to highlight the power of faith in God, as demonstrated by the nobleman in John 4:43-54, and to encourage us to trust in God's promises and share His love with others.

Introduction

Good morning, church family! Today, we're diving into John 4:43-54, a passage that talks about a nobleman's faith, trusting Jesus for great things, and taking responsibility to share Jesus. This story is a testament to the power of faith and the miracles that can happen when we trust in God.

R.C. Sprou once said, "Faith is the avenue to God. Without faith, it's impossible to please Him, and those who come to Him must believe that He exists, and that He rewards those who seek Him diligently." This quote perfectly encapsulates the message that we'll explore today.

Let's read the passage:

Before we delve into the message, let's bow our heads in prayer.

Dear Lord, we thank you for Your Word which is life and healing to us. As we meditate on it today, open our hearts to receive it with joy and humility. Help us to put our trust in you, just like the nobleman did, and to share your love with others. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Now let's get into the heart of the message...

The Nobleman's Faith

This man, a royal official, was in a position of power and influence. Yet, when his son fell ill, he recognized that his earthly authority was insufficient to save his child. He needed a power greater than his own - he needed Jesus.

A humble faith: He was not too proud to seek help, to admit his powerlessness in the face of his son's sickness. He knew that his status, his wealth, his influence, none of these could save his son. But he believed that Jesus could.

A desperate faith: His son was "close to death", the scripture tells us. He was desperate for a miracle. And in his desperation, he turned to Jesus. He didn't turn to other doctors or seek other remedies. He went to Jesus. This shows us that the nobleman's faith was not a last resort, it was his only hope. He put all his trust, all his hope, in Jesus. This is a powerful lesson for us. When we are faced with desperate situations, where do we turn? Do we exhaust all other options before turning to Jesus, or is He our first and only hope?

A persistent faith: He "begged" Jesus to come and heal his son. He didn't just ask once and then give up. He persisted. He was determined to get Jesus' help. This shows us that faith is not passive. It is active. It requires persistence. It requires us to keep knocking, keep seeking, keep asking. The nobleman's faith teaches us to be persistent in our faith, to not give up when we don't see immediate results.

A trusting faith: When Jesus told him, "Go, your son will live", the nobleman took Jesus at His word. He didn't demand proof. He didn't ask for a sign. He simply believed. He trusted Jesus' word. This is perhaps the most powerful aspect of the nobleman's faith. It was a faith that trusted in Jesus' word, even without seeing the evidence. This is the kind of faith that pleases God - a faith that trusts in Him, even when we can't see the outcome.

A contagious faith: When he returned home and found his son healed, he and his whole household believed. His faith led others to faith. This is a powerful reminder for us that our faith is not just for us. It is also for those around us. Our faith can lead others to believe in Jesus.
