Psalm 96 The New Song

1. The Divine Invitation - To Sing -

1 O sing unto the Lord a new song: sing unto the Lord, all the earth.

A Song of Recognition - O sing unto the Lord

A Song of Revelation - a new song:

A Song of Redemption - sing unto the Lord, -

Rev 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

A Song of Regeneration - all the earth.

To Shout - 2 Sing unto the Lord, bless his name;

To Shine - shew forth his salvation from day to day.

To Share - 3 Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.

2. The Divine Appreciation - For -

His Person - 4 For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised:

His Position - he is to be feared above all gods.

His Pre-eminence - 5 For all the gods of the nations are idols:

His Power - but the Lord made the heavens.

His Perfection - 6 Honour and majesty are before him:

His Presence - strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

His Provision - 7 Give unto the Lord, O ye kindreds of the people,

His Protection - give unto the Lord glory and strength.

3. The Divine Expectation - He Expects -

Song - 8 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name:

Sacrifice - bring an offering,

Support - and come into his courts.

Sanctity - 9 O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness:

Sincerity - fear before him, all the earth.

Service - 10 Say among the heathen that the Lord reigneth:

Serenity - the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved

Submission - 10 he shall judge the people righteously.

4. The Divine Revelation -

His Creation - 11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad;

let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof.

His Compassion - 12 Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein:

then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice 13 before the Lord:

His Coronation - 13 for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth:

he shall judge the world with righteousness,

and the people with his truth.

The Promise of His Coming - 13 for he cometh,

The Purpose of His Coming - for he cometh to judge the earth:

The Purity of His Coming, he shall judge the world with righteousness

The Principle of His Coming - and the people with his truth.
