The NECESSITY For GODLY FATHERS-I(2023)—Malachi 4:4(4-6)

Attention/Need:

Our society lives under the mistaken belief that there is no realistic need for fathers & that a home is just fine without them.

Generally, on a secular level, men themselves have ‘bought into the belief that they are no more than ‘baby makers’...having no impact & no responsibility. They have become convinced that they can enter & leave a relationship at will, with no harm done—but no good done either. So tentative relationships are rampant, accepted & even sought out.

‘Living together’ before marriage has become so commonplace that it is accepted & even expected by a great majority of our country’s citizens. It has grown so commonplace, that even some within the Church have come to accept it....

I know of one woman who was single, had always been single but wanted a child. She had no designs on getting married, seeing no need for the presence of a father in the home. She was perfectly confident that she could raise a child in a home with no fatherly input or support! And her ‘Christian’ mother was proudly supportive of her ‘brave’ daughter’s choice!...

However, just the opposite is true! Godly Fathers are absolutely necessary for a family to grow & prosper with minimal damaging effects.

Now, even some secular psychological professionals are admitting that a lack of committed fatherly influence in the home is severely detrimental to families, which in turn is severely detrimental to our society as a whole! We are reaping the ‘benefits’/whirlwind of our irresponsibilities. And that is something the Church has known & proclaimed since the beginning, because godly fathers are a vital part of God’s design!!

The prophet Malachi linked the importance of godly fathers to a positive outcome for mankind’s existence.

Godly fathers are vital to our existence.

What makes godly fathers so vital for our existence?

3 validations that godly fathers are vital for our very existence.

1—Godly Fathers are vital as Those Who...

REMEMBER GOD’s WORD & WILL(4:4)

Explanation: (4:4)

:4—“Remember the Law of Moses, My servant, Which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, With the statutes & judgments.”

The faithful, & all who will ‘listen’, are called upon to “remember” that which was committed to Israel’s charge thru Moses at Mt. Sinai(Mt. Horeb =‘desert’ or ‘desolate’) where they received the Law.

Obviously, you can’t “remember” anything that you have not first familiarized yourself with!

OR--

•?How can a person “remember” what they do not ‘know’?

The faithful—those who revere YHWH God—were responsible individually for “remembering” “the” Mosaic “Law”(the law given thru Moses)...

They were to “remember” that “Law” so that the entire ‘nation’ of God’s people Israel, & thus the world(:6c), would benefit from God’s blessing(Gen. 12:1-3; Acts 3:25-26; Gal. 3:5-9).

Gen. 12:1-3—“Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Acts 3:25-26—Peter, to those in Jerusalem, after the arrival of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost—“You are sons of the prophets, & of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’ “To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.””

Gal. 3:5-9—“Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you & works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?-- just as Abraham “believed God, & it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.”

“Moses” was uniquely YHWH’s “servant”, being YHWH’s prophet & mouthpiece(Ex. 4:12, 15-16), along with his brother Aaron.

Ex. 4:12, 15-16—YHWH to Moses—“Now therefore, go, & I will be with your mouth & teach you what you shall say.”.....“Now you shall speak to him[Aaron] & put the words in his mouth. And I will be with your mouth & with his mouth, & I will teach you what you shall do. So he shall be your spokesman to the people. And he himself shall be as a mouth for you, & you shall be to him as God.”
