Summary: Prayer should be prayed with purpose and Right intentions!!!
The Motive for the Moment
Luke 11:1
Luke 11:1 One day he was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said, "Master, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples."
Matthew 6: 5-7
5And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
In these times we are in a great need for prayer, we are coming across very troublesome times from a spiritual, emotional and global perspective. I would never want God to release storm(s) in my life to get me to pray, I’d rather pray now. Prayer is always the right method, nonetheless, there has to be the right motive as well.
When Jesus would go out to pray he would go out at approximately 3am to pray in a place for about 4 hours.
Jesus Would Go to a place where there was: 1) Isolation 2) Tranquility) Peace so there was no interruption from the progress of God so should we follow the model that Jesus showed.
Jesus would pray for hours and speak miracles in seconds because he knew how important it was to invest time in prayer, since the power of man is wrapped in prayer.
Luke 18:1 Jesus told them a story showing that it was necessary for them to pray consistently and never quit.
3 Reasons why we should pray
1) God is as sovereign as his word 2) God Is Limited by his word 3) God will never violate his word
Why you pray determines - How you pray
Your prayer should be prayed with purpose and you will have to determine the purpose of your prayer.
Prayer is not time misused – Prayer is time invested
Mark 1:35-37 7While it was still night, way before dawn, he got up and went out to a secluded spot and prayed. Simon and those with him went looking for him. They found him and said, "Everybody looking for you."
Genesis 1:26 God spoke: "Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, And, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of Earth." God created human beings; he created them godlike, Reflecting God’s nature.
Romans 12:1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Your body is the most important thing to God – He has need of what he owns
Matthew 18:18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
To declare a thing to be binding or obligatory – When Binding – Imposing or Placing an Obligation
