THE MOST IMPORTANT PRAYERS THAT THE CHURCH MUST PRAY TODAY

***********************************************************

1.PATERNITY : Our Father which art in Heaven : Luke 11 : 2

The church must pray to God realizing that He is our Heavenly Father. The church is one family with God as the heavenly Father. Therefore the people of God must remember this truth at all times . This will cause the people of God to live in unity and harmony because we are not strangers or foes but members of the same family of God.

John 1:12

Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—

2.PRAISE : Hallowed be Thy Name : Luke 11:2

The church must pray that the name of the Lord is praised and glorified. Our prayers must begin with praise and worship and adoration and thanksgiving. This is the right way to approach the throne of God.The people of God must be careful that their words and actions bring glory to the name of the Lord. We must not behave in ways that bring dishonour to the name of the Lord. We should not be striving for our selfish purposes forgetting the consequences of dishonour to the name of the Lord. We must be careful that our activities bring glory to the Lord.

Psalm 100:4

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

3.POWER : Thy Kingdom come : Luke 11:2

The church must pray for the Kingdom of God to come. The Kingdom of God is where God rules as King. All Power and authority belongs to God. The people of God must labour to build the Kingdom of God. We should not try to build our own little kingdoms for ourselves. Instead we must realize that we are labouring together to build God’s Kingdom. We must not have any selfish and ulterior motives in the Kingdom of God.

Matthew 6:33

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

4.PURPOSE: Thy will be done , as in heaven , so in earth : Luke 11:2

The church must pray for God’s will and plan and purpose to be fulfilled in the earth. We must pray especially pray for the will of God to be fulfilled in our nation . We must pray for those in authority that they would fulfill the plans and the purposes of God. The people of God must learn to submit to the will and purpose of God . We must not be stubborn in seeking our own desires and ambitions . Instead we must humble ourselves and lay aside our longings and submit to God’s plan and purposes. God’s ways and thoughts are infinitely higher than ours.

1 Timothy 2:1-5

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—

for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

This is good, and pleases God our Savior,

who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

5.PROVISION : Give us day by day our daily bread : Luke 11:3

The church must pray for God’s provision to meet the daily needs. The people of God must learn to depend upon the Lord for the supply of their needs. We should not put our trust in man to supply our needs. This will lead to disappointment and frustration as man may to fail to help us or be unable to help us. We must learn to look to the Lord for the supply of our needs.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE

Philippians 4:19

And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

6.PARDON: Forgive us our sins; for we also forgive everyone that is indebted to us. : Luke 11:4

The church must pray for God’s pardon and forgiveness for all its sins . The people of God must learn to forgive one another as they seek God’s forgiveness for themselves. There must be a spirit of forgiveness and love within the body of Christ. We should not be filled with hatred and bitterness and unforgiveness against our fellow christians . Instead we must have a forgiving heart towards one another and then the Lord will also show mercy towards our own sins and forgive us.
