Summary: A short story told to children aged 4 to 6 when I was invited to a local Infant School Assembly.

The most famous man in history was born a very, very long time ago; long before your parents or your grandparents were born; and even long before their parents and grandparents were born!

When he was born, the most famous man in history was a baby, just like you were once, and just like I was once. Just like your teacher was once!

When he was just a toddler, the most famous man in history had to move house; because the King was a very bad king and he was doing very bad things. The toddler's dad had a dream. In the dream an Angel told him to take the little boy to a country called Egypt so that they would be safe. So, the toddler's dad and the toddler's mum moved away to another town in another country to keep safe.

When the bad king died the most famous man in history moved back home with his mum and dad.

The most famous man in history was now a little boy. He was a very good little boy. He was smart, and he was helpful, and he did what was right.

When he grew up to be a man the most famous man in history never had very much money, but he always had enough to eat.

He went to a lot of parties because lots of people wanted to be with him. Naughty people invited him to their parties, and the most famous man in history always said, “Yes. I will come to your party.” He loved to eat and drink and he loved people. He loved everybody.

The most famous man in history told the best stories. He told funny stories. He told sad stories. He told amazing stories. He told difficult stories. He told beautiful stories. His stories always made people think. His stories helped people to think about God. He told the most famous stories in the world.

Some of the mummies and daddies said that the most famous man in history was wonderful. He was showing them what God is really like, but some did not like him at all. They wished he would go away.

Lots of mums and dads brought their children to the most famous man in history so that he could pray for them. He prayed for them. He asked God to bless them. He smiled at them. He said, “Let the children come to me. Don't do anything to stop them because the kingdom of God belongs to people like this.”

The most famous man in history is famous. He is very, very famous! He was born in Bethlehem. He died on a cross but God raised him up.

The most famous man in history is Jesus.
