Summary: Paul’s instructions to the church at Thessalonica on how to live for Christ.
THE MODEL WALK
1 Thessalonians 4:1-18
INTRO: We live in times when it is hard to live a Christian life. We want to live for Christ, and walk as He would have us to walk, but we may not know what to do.
Today, we want to look at the Model Walk that Paul gave to the church at
Thessalonica. Here we will find the things we can do to walk with Christ.
I. WALK TO PLEASE GOD.
A. Our walk is one of service.
1. We are taught how to walk.
a. Our parents teach us how to walk first.
b. We are not taught how to talk first.
2. To talk well without living well will never bring us to heaven.
B. Holy walk is most pleasing.
1. To God—this should be every Christians ambition.
2. To us—the joy of walking with God (and for God).
3. We should not be men-pleasers, or flesh-pleasers, but God-
pleasers.
II. BE HONEST IN OUR WALK.
A. Do not defraud your brother.
1. In any matter.
2. God will deal with us if we do.
B. He who despiseth any man despiseth God.
III. BE HUMBLE IN OUR WALK.
A. Show brotherly love to all.
B. Study to be quiet—Satan is very busy trying to disquiet us.
IV. BE SURE IN OUR WALK.
A. God is with us.
B. At the end—we will be with Him.
CONC: We sometimes don’t seem to realize just how important it is for us to walk daily with God. We think that if we can attend church on Sunday that that is all we need to do. God expects more of us than just being a Sunday Christian. He expects us to be a daily Christian. Which are you?
