Good morning, church family! We're diving deep into God's Word today, straight into Philippians 2:5-11. We're going to be exploring the mind of Christ, the humility of obedience, and the exalting of Jesus' name.
A.W. Tozer once said, "The meek man is not a human mouse afflicted with a sense of his own inferiority. Rather he may be in his moral life as bold as a lion and as strong as Samson; but he has stopped being fooled about himself. He has accepted God's estimate of his own life. He knows he is as weak and helpless as God has declared him to be, but paradoxically, he knows at the same time that he is in the sight of God of more importance than angels. In himself, nothing; in God, everything. That is his motto."
Let's see how this concept plays out in the text. Philippians 2:5-11 says,
"In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
In Philippians 2:8, Paul writes, "And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!"
