This chapter gives us some insight into the prophet Amos. Here are some things that this chapter teaches us about him…
1. His Passion for Israel-that is why he interceded for them
2. His Power with God-God stayed His hand of judgment at Amos’ request
3. His Perception of the truth-Amos knew when to pray for the people and when to stop praying and simply tell them the truth. When he saw the plumbline, he knew that there was no need to continue to intercede for Israel.
4. His Priority of obedience-in spite of the rebuke and opposition, he was committed to obeying God.
