The Many Crowns Of Jesus
Contributed by Kenneth Trent on Nov 22, 2002 (message contributor)
Summary: The five crowns outlined here are not intended to be a comprehensive list of the crowns of our Savior. They do, however, take us from glory to earth to glory in the life of our Lord Jesus.
THE MANY CROWNS OF JESUS
“His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns.” Revelation 19:12.
I. THE CROWN OF DEITY:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.” John 1:1-2.
“And now, O Father, glorify Thou Me with Thine own glory which I had with Thee before the world was.” John 17:5.
II. THE CROWN OF HUMANITY:
“But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Himself the form of a servant, and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death…even the death of the cross.” Philippians 2:7-8.
“And after He fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry.” Matthew 4:2. “I thirst.” John 19:28.
“was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” Hebrews 4:15.
III. THE CROWN OF THORNS:
“Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged Him. And the soldiers wove a crown of thorns and put it on His head and arrayed Him in a purple robe.” John 19:1-2.
IV. THE CROWN OF GLORY:
“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that He, by the grace of God, should taste death for every man.” Hebrews 2:9.
“Which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” I Corinthians 2:8.
V. THE CROWNS OF EVERLASTING PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING:
“Around the throne, I saw twenty-four elders sitting on thrones, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads and they fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him, who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor, and power; For Thou hast created all things, and by Thy will they exist and were created.” Revelation 4:4, 10-11.
