14:23 Surely they shall not see the land which I swore to give to their fathers; nor shall any who provoked (spurned, despised) Me see it.

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. The LORD always speaks

"And the Lord said"

Speak or "dabar" from it's Hebrew word means: subdue: - answer, appoint, bid, command, commune, declare, destroy, give, name, promise, pronounce, rehearse, say, speak, be spokesman, subdue, talk, teach, tell, think

Only GOD can speak and act at the same time, and He commands once He speaks, and teaches us. That's the role of our LORD and MASTER to us.

The first occurence of this Hebrew word is when GOD spake to Noah and Noah's name in Hebrew means "rest".

Genesis 8:15

And God spoke to Noah, saying,

We will only have "rest" that is spiritual rest resulting in rested body with no stress and burdens if we only know and learn how to listen to GOD.

There are approximately 1142 occurences of this word "spoke" or this Hebrew word "dabar" and GOD majority speaks to believers.

When GOD speaks it is judgement to unbelievers and reward to believers.

Psalms 18:47

The God Who avenges me and subdues peoples under me,

Therefore, we as believers will speak wisdom based on GOD's WORDS.

Psalms 49:3

My mouth shall speak wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be understanding.

B. The believers should always listen

"to Moses,"

The LORD has given us an "ear to hear"

Isaiah 50:4

[The Servant of God says] The Lord God has given Me the tongue of a disciple and of one who is taught, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary. He wakens Me morning by morning, He wakens My ear to hear as a disciple [as one who is taught].

When GOD speaks, we listen. Because when GOD speaks it is for our own good and not for His personal agenda. It will only benefit us when GOD speaks to us, learn to hear and listen from GOD.

Psalms 50:7

Hear, O My people, and I will speak; O Israel, I will testify to you and against you: I am God, your God.

Psalms 60:6

God has spoken in His holiness [in His promises]: I will rejoice, I will divide and portion out [the land] Shechem and the Valley of Succoth [west to east].

We have a disciple's ear that will hear out GOD's WORDS and these same WORDS are our food that makes us alive.

Matthew 4:4

But He replied, It has been written, Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.

Deuteronomy 8:3

And He humbled you and allowed you to hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you recognize and personally know that man does not live by bread only, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord.
