The Lord shall Provide

Jeremiah 33:1-9

They shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and all the prosperity that I provide for it.’ Jeremiah 33:9

Good morning! Praise be to the Lord! Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Lord came to Jeremiah a second time, while he was shut up in the court of the prison. And the Lord said to him “Call upon me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. Jeremiah 33:3.

From verses 6 to 9 the Lord is talking about the restoration of his people. The first restoration was 32:44 “I will case their captivities to return.” And Isaiah 51:14 “The captive exile hastens, that he may be loosed, that he should not die in the pit. And his bread should not fail.”

Restoration of His people:

Lord is promising to restore us. Here the Lord is talking (verses 6-9) about the city of Jerusalem. The Lord is promising to restore the city of Jerusalem. Jerusalem can represent us. It represents our lives. Jerusalem represents our family, our lives, our cities, our state, and our country. Lord said, I am going to restore the city of Jerusalem. I will heal your city. I will heal your land. I will heal your state and country.

Lord is saying to the people of the earth how He will restore them; this city of Jerusalem would be an example or sample of His glory. It is a symbol of His greatness. When the people look at the city of Jerusalem, they will know who He is. It will become a symbol of joy. They will praise God when the people see the goodness, prosperity, peace, and security that He provides to them.

The Lord will Provide Goodness:

The Lord wants to provide goodness to his people who were captives. You are not only restored from the captivity of the prison, but he will give you all His goodness by his marvelous righteous hand.

Jeremiah 33:9 “They shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and all the prosperity that I provide for it”

Psalm 23: Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.

a) Seeing God’s Goodness:

Those who do not see God, do not see God’s goodness. Those who have received God into their hearts can see God’s goodness.

Psalm 27:13 “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

So, give your children hope. We pray this might be a great time in which we can demonstrate the difference between those who believe in Christ and those who don’t have that hope.

Psalm 33:5 “He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.”

b) Trusting God’s Goodness:

Psalm 34:8 “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”

Nahum 1:7 “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.”

In many parts of the old testament, we can see God’s people facing trouble and even devastation. Sometimes, it is because of their own foolishness, and, other times, it is because of their enemies. Regardless of why God’s people go through sufferings or injustice, we can always see God’s love and mercies being displayed towards them. Our God is a God of love, and he always delivers them.

Haggai 2:9 “The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘And in this place, I will give peace,’ says the Lord of hosts.

The Lord will Provide Health:

Jeremiah 33:6 Behold I will bring it health and healing: I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth”.

The God’s Word translation says, “I will heal this city and restore it to health. I will heal its people, and I will give them peace and security.”

He is our restorer. The Lord promises to his people that He will restore you. He will heal you. He will heal your family. He will restore our cities and life just as He restored Jerusalem.

a) God Heal His People:

Wherever you live, dear child of God, you can claim this promise for you, for your city, and for your state. You can claim it for your street; you can claim it for your neighborhood.

When we look at the life of the children of Israel during the 40 years journey from Egypt to the promise land, in Numbers Ch.16. God’s people while facing death by a plague. It became because they murmured against Moses and Aaron. They were wrongly accusing God’s people. The Bible says, while they were accusing Moses Numbers 16:42 “And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and, behold the cloud covered it, and the glory of the Lord appeared.”
