The Lord Is On My Side

¸ to his salvation

¸ to his ability

¸ to his love

¸ to his healing

But God can reach you wherever you are at. You don’t have to clean yourself up first but just reach out to him in faith and he can touch you today.

Psalm 118:6

6 The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?

Hebrews 13:5-6

5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Psalms says “The Lord is on my side.” But Hebrews in quoting this Old Testament verse says it another way. It says, “The Lord is my helper.” I wonder what is the significance of that word helper in the book of Hebrews.

The word helper in the Greek is a compound word. It comes from the Greek words (Boe) which means a cry for help and (Theo) which means to run. Put them together and it means one who comes running when we cry for help. This Greek compound word paints a word picture of the Lord as one who is poised and ready to rush to the relief of his oppressed children when they shout for His assistance.

THE LORD IS ON MY SIDE!

Let me illustrate this for you today. David who is a young boy is going to face a grown man who is also a giant named Goliath.

Let’s look at Goliath:

¸ He is six cubits and a span which is about 9 feet and 9 inches tall

¸ He had on a bronze helmet

¸ His coat of armor was 125 pounds of bronze

¸ He had a spear as straight as a weavers beam. The head of the spear weighed 16 pounds

¸ He also had a great sword in his hand.

He was an impressive man of war.

But on the other side there was David – just a fair skinned red headed boy.

Goliath made his boast:

¸ I’ll tear you limb from limb – uh-huh

¸ I’ll feed you to the birds of the air – uh-huh

¸ I’ll feed you to the beast of the field – uh-huh

Apparently you don’t understand boy I’m 10 feet tall and a man of war and your just a little boy. No, no Goliath you don’t understand because the Lord is on MY SIDE. Hey Jesus! I need your help for just a moment!(Tag Someone)

And then the Lord gave David the supernatural strength to defeat Goliath.

It doesn’t matter if your facing a giant in your life that’s ten feet tall all you have got to do is call on Jesus.

The Lord is on my side!

It doesn’t matter if you feel you’re in a lame situation just tag Jesus.

Gideon was called one day by the Lord to defeat he Midianites. But Lord you don’t understand.

¸ I’m from the least tribe of Israel

¸ My family is the least of the smallest tribe

¸ I’m the least in my family

¸ I’m a nobody

You can’t even number the Midianites there are so many of them.

no weapons just a trumpet, a lamp, and a pitcher and a shout

The Lord wanted them to know that it was Almighty God that was bringing them the victory.
