The Lord Is Always Watching Us - Proverbs 5:21

Proverbs 5:21 The LORD sees everything you do. Wherever you go, he is watching.

Isn't it very comforting to know that wherever we go, the Lord is always watching to protect us? Yeah the sales ladies in a department store is not comforting to know thay they are always watching our every move in a department store, but God is different. We know and are at peace that God is concerned to watch all the little details in our lives. He never forsakes us or even His eyes wander away from us.

He is watching us for several good reasons.

1. He is watching us whether we do good or evil. (Proverbs 15:3)

Proverbs 15:3 The LORD sees what happens everywhere; he is watching us, whether we do good or evil.

I remember the song that goes like this: "..can't take my eyes off you.." something like that. Isn't this a thrill for all of us, that God loves us that much that He can't take off His eyes away from us? Yeah, He sees all our doings, both good and evil, but nevertheless He still loves us that much.

2. So the Lord Can Quickly Give Strength To Those Whose Hearts Are Loyal To Him (2 Chronicles 16:9)

2 Chronicles 16:9 The LORD keeps close watch over the whole world, to give strength to those whose hearts are loyal to him. You have acted foolishly, and so from now on you will always be at war."

The Lord is always ready and enthusiastic about helping us whenever we need His help, or even we don't know we need His help.

3. God Can See Every Step We Take (Job 31:4)

Job 31:4 God knows everything I do; he sees every step I take.

Job 34:21 He watches every step we take.

And imagine, He does that to every people in the world all at the same time. And He knows exactly the number of steps you will take to arrive at a specific direction even before you take them.

4. The Lord Knows Exactly What We're Doing Right Now (Psalms 11:4)

Psalms 11:4 The LORD is in his holy temple; he has his throne in heaven. He watches people everywhere and knows what they are doing.

Psalms 33:13 The LORD looks down from heaven and sees all of us humans.

This results in different things for different people. To those who are right with God, it's very comforting, that before we ever do a single thing, God already knows it, to those who are not yet a believer in the Lord, this is somehow a fearful thing that God knows all the foul stuff we does, and still God chooses to love us in His Grace.

5. God Knows Our Hearts (Psalms 17:3)

Psalms 17:3 You know my heart. You have come to me at night; you have examined me completely and found no evil desire in me. I speak no evil,

Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

Don't ever think that we can guard our hearts all by ourselves, it is the Lord Jesus who does this for us, because He alone knows our hearts, there are some things we don't even know yet about ourselves, about our hearts, but before you even know it, or are thinking of knowing it, God already knows it inside and out.

6. There's Nothing That Can Be Hidden From God (Psalms 139:1-12)

Psalms 139:1 LORD, you have examined me and you know me.

Psalms 139:2 You know everything I do; from far away you understand all my thoughts.

Psalms 139:3 You see me, whether I am working or resting; you know all my actions.

Psalms 139:4 Even before I speak, you already know what I will say.

Psalms 139:5 You are all around me on every side; you protect me with your power.

Psalms 139:6 Your knowledge of me is too deep; it is beyond my understanding.

Psalms 139:7 Where could I go to escape from you? Where could I get away from your presence?

Psalms 139:8 If I went up to heaven, you would be there; if I lay down in the world of the dead, you would be there.

Psalms 139:9 If I flew away beyond the east or lived in the farthest place in the west,

Psalms 139:10 you would be there to lead me, you would be there to help me.

Psalms 139:11 I could ask the darkness to hide me or the light around me to turn into night,

Psalms 139:12 but even darkness is not dark for you, and the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are the same to you.

Jeremiah 16:17 I see everything they do. Nothing is hidden from me; their sins do not escape my sight.
