Summary: A sermon from Ezekiel regarding the Law of the Temple and it’s relevance to believers today.

THE LAW OF THE TEMPLE

Ezekiel 43:10-12 “This is the law of the temple: The whole area surrounding the mountaintop is most holy. Behold, this is the law of the temple.

1 Corinthians 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

1 Thessalonians 5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

SANCTIFICATION

Hagiazo = sanctify, consecrate, dedicate, purify, to set apart

Exodus 29:43 “And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by My glory.

THE PATTERN OF MAN

God is instructing the House of Israel to measure the pattern of the temple. He was not talking about some architectural drawing or way of construction but a comparison of how the Nation was living and how God created them to live.

• The Temple was on top of the Mountain speaking of exaltation and visibility

• The Temple was on the Mountain speaking of stability and firmness

• The Temple was Holy speaking of separation and sanctification

The tabernacle and temple in the Old Testament was the revelation of God for the pattern of man.

THE TABERNACLE OF MOSES HAD THREE PARTS

1. Outer Court - Body

2. Holy Place - Soul

3. Holy of Holies - Spirit

OUTER COURT

The outer court could only be entered one way through the door speaking of Jesus Christ. In the outer court were two pieces of furniture:

1. The Brazen Altar

2. The Laver

Both these items speak of sanctification. One through sacrifice the other through meditation and washing. The first through the blood, the second through the word.

1 Peter 1:17-18, Hebrews 13:12, Ephesians 5:26

HOLY PLACE

The Holy place had three items of furniture:

a. The Golden Candelabra

b. The Table of Shewbread

c. The Golden Altar of Incense

Leviticus 24:1-4

The light of the candelabra was produced by burning the olive oil. Oil is symbolic of the Holy Spirit. Light is truth; truth can only come through the Holy Spirit!

This speaks of the mind the source of our thoughts, ideas and choices, which control our actions or will and result in feelings.

The bread is made with fine flour speaking of the redeemed which is mixed together to become one loaf. Leviticus 24:5-9

This speaks of relationships.

The frankincense burned on the altar of incense was to be of only one kind so to make it and burn it speaks of obedience. Exodus 30:9, Numbers 20:12

Renewed mind, Right relationships, Righteousness or right acting

HOLY OF HOLIES

This speaks of our spirit where God dwells. In this place rests the Ark of His Presence containing the Rod of Aaron, Tablets of Law and the Jar of Manna.

1. Resurrection Power

2. Order

3. Revelation or rhema word

SPIRIT SOUL AND BODY

Once a person is saved, through the path of the temple there is a reverse process of sanctification. Now we have received our position we walk the walk by Spirit Soul then Body. 1 Thess 5:23

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN OUR WALK!
