The Kingdom of God

The Kingdom of God is …

that place where God’s authority is acknowledged and obeyed, where God or Christ rules and has the final say in the human heart.

Hints of the Kingdom of God- beginning of time …

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." NASU

God wants to re-establish the order of His Kingdom in the world- first He wants it established inside us.

Romans 14:17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. NASU

Its results will be seen outwardly, but it begins within.

Luke 9:1 And He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases.

2 And He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to perform healing. NASU

When we became believers- not just so we could go to heaven- God wants to set up His rule in our lives.

When Jesus started His public ministry …

Mk 1:15 "At last the time has come!" he announced. "The Kingdom of God is near! Turn from your sins and believe this Good News!" NLT

Near- at hand, approaching, one point in time being close to another point in time.

At the end of this age and the beginning of the next, God will establish His eternal Kingdom.

We live between two worlds- one trying to crash in on the other.

Rom 8:22-25

All of creation- longing for- eternal Kingdom of God.

That eternal Kingdom-breaks into-realm of time/space

At the Crucifixion-

veil torn in two,

sky darkened,

earth shook,

tombs were opened, and

many were resurrected from the dead.

At the Resurrection-

Jesus rose from the dead-

At Pentecost- room the disciples were in-

filled with a rushing wind,

tongues of fire fell on the disciples, and

they all began speaking in tongues.

During times of revivals down through history-

people shook, laughed, fell down,

instantaneous healings, dead were raised,

visions and dreams, angelic visitations.

Jesus said …

Luke 8:10 And He said, " To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is in parables, so that SEEING THEY MAY NOT SEE, AND HEARING THEY MAY NOT UNDERSTAND.

God wants us to understand the mysteries of His Kingdom and do all we can to open the door for

that eternal Kingdom to break in on our lives.

Expectations

If we are going to see the Kingdom of God- we must expand our expectations.

Jesus taught His disciples how to pray … Mtt 6:9-13

This is the Kingdom prayer- unfortunately we tend to recite it instead of praying the reality of the prayer.

Two things if we are going to see the Kingdom of God break into our world TODAY …

1. Hallow the name of God

Declare who God is by honoring His name …

• Jehovah-jireh- the Lord will provide- Gen 22:14

• Jehovah-rapha- the Lord will heal- Ex 15:26

• Jehovah-nissi- the Lord is our banner- Ex 17:15

• Jehovah-shalom- the Lord is our peace- Jud 6:24

• Jehovah-ra ah- the Lord is my shepherd- Psa 23:1

• Jehovah-tsidkenu-Lord is our righteousness-Jer 23:6

• Jehovah-shammah- the Lord is present- Eze 48:35

2. Your Kingdom come

Praying for-end of world to break into this world now.

Gospel- divided into two parts …

Words of Jesus

Works of Jesus

The words of Jesus brought about the works of Jesus.

The Centurion understood this …

Mtt 8:5-9

He understood the connection between the words of Jesus and the works of Jesus.

Jn 14:12 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. NASU

The Kingdom of God is near … the end of the world is about to happen in this meeting today.

God wants to break into our lives/corporate gatherings

John 4:23 "But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.

24 "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." NASU

There are those who are satisfied w/truth- good sermons, Bible studies, order, nothing unusual.

Others looking for experiences- signs and wonders, prophetic words, gifts of the HS in operation.
