The Judge Judged In Our Place

Judge Jesus:

I am Christ Jesus and I am ordained by God as judge of the living and the dead. (Acts 10:42)

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. (Matthew 28:18)

Our sins:

I will bring light to the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. (1. Cor 4:5)

I will judge the secret thoughts of all. (Romans 2:16)

I tell you, on the day of judgment you will have to give an account for every careless word you utter; for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned. (Matt. 12:36-37)

All of you must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may receive recompense for what has been done in the body, whether good or evil. (2.Cor 5:10)

You who gather for worship today, you have to pay for all your sins - minor and major! But it is not just you being brought to trial, but all humankind of all times and places!

Sentence:

Anyone whose name I do not write in the book of life is thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:15)

The combined sentence is death!

The Judge judged in our Place:

But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2. Cor 5:21)

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. (John 3:16)

Christ Jesus steps down from his judgment seat to take our defendant’s seat!

May I never boast of anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. (Galatians 6:14)

He humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death— even death on a cross. (Philippians 2:8)

And through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross, (Colossians 1:20)

erasing the record that stood against us with its legal demands. He set this aside, nailing it to the cross. (Colossians 2:14)

He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. (1. Peter 2:24)
