Sharing keeps our focus on God, our true Provider. It transforms us into channels of His blessings.

Introduction

Today, we will be discussing the topic of giving to God. The Bible passage we will be looking at is 2 Corinthians 9:6-15. Giving does not come naturally to most of us, as we often prefer to be on the receiving end. However, Jesus did say that it is more blessed to give than to receive. This means that giving holds a special significance in our lives.

God's Self-Sufficiency

Firstly, it is important to understand that God does not need our money. We should not see giving as a way to meet the needs of the church or the work of God. God owns everything, including our lives. He is self-sufficient and does not require anything from us. In Psalm 50:7-12, the psalmist reminds us that God does not need our sacrifices or offerings because everything in the world belongs to Him.

Focus on God as Provider

So, if God does not need our money, why does He want us to give? The answer lies in the fact that giving keeps our focus on God, our true Provider. When we give, we are acknowledging that everything we have comes from Him. It breaks the grip of greed in our hearts and reminds us that we are living under God's grace. Giving is an act of trust and confidence in a God who cares for us.

Channels of God's Blessings

Furthermore, giving makes us channels of God's blessings. When we give, we become instruments through which God provides for the needs of others. He blesses us so that we can bless others. Our generosity not only meets the needs of God's people but also leads to thanksgiving and praise to God. It is an investment in God's kingdom and His work on earth.

Conclusion

In conclusion, giving is not about meeting God's needs but about recognizing Him as our true Provider. It keeps our focus on Him and breaks the power of greed in our lives. When we give, we become channels of God's blessings and instruments of His provision for others. Let us embrace the joy of giving and trust in God's faithfulness to bless us abundantly as we bless others.
