The Hope That Is Found In The Resurrection (Hix)

1 Peter 3:15-But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;

An Illinois man left Chicago for a vacation in Florida. His wife was on a

business trip and was planning to meet him the next day. When he reached

his hotel he decided to send his wife a quick e-mail. Unable to find the scrap

of paper on which he had written her e-mail address, he did his best to type

it from memory.

Unfortunately, he missed one letter and his note was directed instead to an

elderly preacher's wife, whose husband had passed away only the day

before. When the grieving widow checked her e-mail, she took one look at

the monitor, let out a piercing scream, and fell to the floor.

At the sound, her family rushed into the room and saw this note on the

screen:

Dear Honey,

Just got checked in. Everything prepared for your arrival tomorrow.

Your Loving Husband.

P.S: Sure is hot down here.

Here Is The Reality Of The World We Live In!

People die! People die all around us, people die everyday, so we need the resurrection, we need to know there is a resurrection, we need to know that there is a life after this old life is over!

People dying is proof that God is not a liar!

He told Adam that if he ate of tree of knowledge, that he would surely die, now God didn’t say that he would die that hour, that day, or next day but be assured he would die and mankind has been dying ever since!

Genesis 5 you have a whole list of people who begot and then they died! (You See The Pattern?)

If we don’t die by natural causes, we are dying by the hands of other people, whether it be a knife or gun, or poison, or strangling, beating, there are people who strap bombs to their body’s and walk into a building, there are people who hijack planes and crash them into buildings and if we can survive any of those things happening to us, there are toxicants in the air, or at the job site that can slowly kill us, the contaminates in the food we eat can kill us very quickly or very slowly.

God knew that once sin entered this world, what the result was going to be, and if God would have left us to ourselves, we would not last very long because we are destructive, some people are destructive to others and some people are destructive to their on self, we abuse this old body as much as we can, then we gripe and complain because of all the physical problems we have.

Have Got You As Low As I Can Get You? Good!

Now Here Is The Hope To Face The Reality Of This World We Live In!

We need to know about a resurrection, about this blessed hope that is given to us, that there is something beyond the grave!

That there is something more to live for, than what this old earth has to offer!

When you have a love one that is sick It doesn’t matter how much money you have, or how much education you have obtained, or how much land you own, nothing as important to you as that person being healthy again, now let me go a step farther and say, when you stand by the graveside of a love one, you want to know that is not the end, that will not be the last time you will see them! You will need something to cling to, something to hope for!

When Your Faced With Death It Makes You Think About Life!

Whether it is a lost of a love one all of a sudden or having to face you on immortally when you get a diagnosis of cancer, or some other potential fatal disease, then we search for some kind of assurance, that there is something greater than what this world offers!

That hope is…The Resurrection!

You see we gather not just to celebrate that Jesus die on a cross for our sins and that Jesus rose from the grave, that He showed His disciples those nail pierced hands, that spear pierced side and over 500 others that He is alive forever more, and because of that, you and I can know, whether it is us standing by a graveside one day, saying goodbye to a love one or friend, and know they had given their life to Jesus, we can know this is not the end for them or whether it is us laying in that casket, we can know with full assurance…He Lives, I Can Face Tomorrow Because He Lives!!!
