The Holy Spirit Helps Us in Many Ways!

The Holy Spirit is our helper in so many ways of our life that we can hardly count them. In this outline we point out 7 ways in which He is our HELPER!

I. The Holy Spirit comforts us when we are troubled and sadden.

John 14:16 (KJV) And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

A. He is our Comforter.

II. He reveals Christ to us as the Son of God.

John 16:13 (KJV) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

A. He shows us that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and that Jesus is the Life.

III. The Holy Spirit helps us in our prayer life.

Romans 8:26 (KJV) Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

A. He puts burdens on our hearts.

B. He directs us not only how, but also for who we need to pray.

IV. He is our teacher in the Word of God.

1 John 2:27 (KJV) But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

A. The Words of Jesus are spirit and life.

V. He helps us to overcome in this world.

Revelation 2:7 (KJV) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

VI. He shows us the things of the future when we need to know them.

John 16:13 (KJV) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

A. My wife recorded the song 'I Know Who Holds Tomorrow'

words and music by Ira Stanphill

I don't know about tomorrow,

I just live from day to day.

I don't borrow from it's sunshine,

For it's skies may turn to gray.

I don't worry o'er the future,

For I know what Jesus said,

And today I'll walk beside Him,

For He knows what is ahead.

Refrain

Many things about tomorrow,

I don't seem to understand;

But I know Who holds tomorrow,

And I know Who holds my hand.

Ev'ry step is getting brighter,

As the golden stairs I climb;

Ev'ry burden's getting lighter;

Ev'ry cloud is silver lined.

There the sun is always shining,

There no tear will dim the eyes,

At the ending of the rainbow,

Where the mountains touch the sky.

Many things about tomorrow,

I don't seem to understand;

But I know Who holds tomorrow,

And I know Who holds my hand.

I don't know about tomorrow,

It may bring me poverty;

But the One Who feeds the sparrow,

Is the One Who stands by me.

And the path that be my portion,

May be through the flame or flood,

But His presence goes before me,

And I'm covered with His blood.

Many things about tomorrow,

I don't seem to understand;

But I know Who holds tomorrow,

And I know Who holds my hand.

VII. He will abide and live with us forever!

John 14:16 (KJV) And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

A. Forever and forever!

B. He will NEVER leave us or forsake us.

Conclusion: Let us permit the Holy Spirit to have complete control of our lives. If we do we will not only do the Will of God but will live the most contentment life that can be lived on this earth. Remember Romans 8:14 (KJV) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Remember also Romans 8:16-17 (KJV) 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
