Summary: An outline comparing the Holy Spirit with the Wind

The Holy Spirit and the wind-Ezekiel 37:8-10

The wind is a basic element needed to live. The Holy Spirit is a basic necessity for every Christian to live.

Spirit: breath/wind

Hebrew: RUACH= breath/wind/spirit

I. Wind is air with movement, its indispensable to live. It spreads seeds and pollen to grow and multiply.

The Holy Spirit is the prescence of God, its a fountain of life- John 3:5; John 3:3-7, Genesis 2:7

II. Wind doesnt have an actual material form. It is invisible, we cant see where it comes from, its a mistery. Its prescence and effects are seen by everyone- John 3:8

The Holy Spirit is not visible but its prescence and effect can be felt and it can transform, sanctify, encourage, guide, etc.. 2 Corinthians 3:18; John 16:13; 2 Thes. 2:13; Romans 8:29

III. The wind and its effects cannot be controlled by humans.

The Holy spirit cannot be controlled by any human power- Acts 6:10; Acts 2:2; John 3:8

IV. Wind varies

The touch of the Holy Spirit varies- 1 Kings 19:11-13; Acts 2:2;

Acts 16:14 Lydia; Acts 16:30 the prison guard

V. A Person filled with the Holy Spirit must be like a hurricane!

1 Corinthians 14:15; Acts 1:8; Ats 2:15-17; Acts 4:13; Luke 24:49
