The Kingdom of God

Good News, was the message of the Kingdom of God.

Mtt 4:23 Jesus was going throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people. NASU

The message of the Kingdom brought the order of God’s Kingdom into the lives of people.

When Jesus taught His disciples to pray …

Mtt 6:10 ’ Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. NASU

He was saying- ask the Father to replace this present world order w/God’s order- the Kingdom of God.

Today- live in a world where everything is relative.

Relativism- truth depends on individuals, groups, culture, society- truth is not absolute.

Man no longer has a basis for truth from which to live

There is a desperate need for the Kingdom of God.

The Kingdom and the King

In the Kingdom of God- no distinction between the King and the Kingdom of God.

Heb 1:3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature … NASU

Jesus was a revelation in the flesh of both what God is like and what the Kingdom of God is like.

Jn 14:9 Jesus said to him, "Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ’Show us the Father’?

The Kingdom is when we become like the Father and live the reality of the Kingdom in our lives.

1 Pet 1:15 but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior;

16 because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY." NASU

God is looking for a people who will embrace the message/work of the Kingdom in their lives.

God has chosen to hide the reality of His Kingdom in nature/life, and reveal it to a people who will live it

E Stanley Jones- "Kingdom of God was disguised in-

the Babe, the Boy, the Carpenter, the Prophet, the Son of man, the Son of God, the Redeemer, the Crucified, the risen and alive Redeemer, the One who sat at the right hand of ultimate power in the universe- thus He revealed the Kingdom in a Person."

The King and the Kingdom are inseparable.

The Kingdom of God is ….

everything we need to live a life for God now,

not just something future, a place we will go,

it is God’s way of life here on earth, it is

the answer to ALL the world’s problems now.

The Heart of the King

Most understand God is powerful- He can do anything

Before we will experience …

God’s peace and

His miraculous power in our lives,

… we must believe not only that He is able/powerful, but also believe in …

how much He loves us and

how willing He is to help us.

Mtt 9:35-36

Compassion- speaks of one’s inward parts being

moved by the distress of others, and a

desire to alleviate their distress.

Just before feeding the 5000 …

Mtt 14:14 When He went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and felt compassion for them and healed their sick. NASU

Jesus feeds the 4000 …

Mtt 15:32 And Jesus called His disciples to Him, and said, " I feel compassion for the people, because they have remained with Me now three days and have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry, for they might faint on the way." NASU

A leper comes to Jesus …

Mk 1:40 And a leper came to Jesus, beseeching Him and falling on his knees before Him, and saying, "If You are willing, You can make me clean."

41 Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, "I am willing; be cleansed." NASU

Jesus-several occasions healed ALL who came to Him

Mtt 8:14-17

He never turned people away who were earnestly seeking for Him (not just a sign or a miracle).

The Names of God

The names of God reveal the character of God.

Character of God/Kingdom of God are inseparable.

The names reveal not only what God is like, but how He works in those looking for His Kingdom.

• Jehovah-jireh- the Lord is our provider-

Gen 22:14 Abraham called the name of that place The LORD Will Provide … NASU

• Jehovah-rapha- the Lord is our healer-

Ex 15:26 " If you will give earnest heed to the voice of the LORD your God … I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the LORD, am your healer."
