Summary: The difference between Law and Grace! Though we are under Grace, so many today try to live under grace while serving the Law. This is an outline for you to use.

History - Informative - FACT - NO CHANGE -

Law - Authoritative - SUBJECT TO CHANGE - Finished in Christ

Law is the Old Covenant - Grace is the New Covenant

We are NOT under the law but under grace

Grace was the plan from the beginning!

Abraham, Jacob, Issac

when the covenant was formed with them it was one sided

It was ALL God. He walked between the 2 halves of the animal

Abraham, Jacob, They just Observed! They were dreaming!!!

Why do we have the Law?

Man ASKED for it!

Law

We could not keep the law!

For those who try to live under the law:

Cutting - when we feel we are failing to keep the law, sometimes we punish ourselves

Working - super hard, stressing every decision, nervous breakdown

God punishes - I messed up so God is punishing me

Law could not provide salvation

Law could not provide forgiveness

NO MAN could uphold law

It was so bad no Priest could rest

There were no chairs in the tent!

it was work work work

The sacrifices were in place to show the need for a substitute

The law was a never ending cycle. It was a circle of blood, never good enough to provide salvation. The sacrifice was always impure because man had something to do with it!

So God provided us a sacrifice! Jesus did not abolish the law

HE FULFILLED IT!

Grace Covenant - scripture -

Hebrews 7:22 - This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant.

Hebrews 9:15Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.

We are under Grace - Romans 6:14 - For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

Ephesians 2:8 -For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--

Remember how the Priests were always working, never sitting?

Jesus is the high priest who is SITTING!

He Rests!!

Why? because the law is finished

Jesus blood on the cross paid for our sins, past, present, and future!!!!

Law = do, do, do

Grace = done, done, done
