Message Point: When God’s hand is upon you, you prosper in Kingdom things.
Focus Passage: Ezra 7:8-10
Supplemental Passage: "Pity me, pity me, O you my friends, For the hand of God has struck me. (Job 19:21 NASB)
They sent therefore and gathered all the lords of the Philistines and said, "Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it return to its own place, so that it will not kill us and our people." For there was a deadly confusion throughout the city; the hand of God was very heavy there. (1 Samuel 5:11 NASB)
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, (1 Peter 5:6)
I. Study God’s Word
a. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. (Psalms 1:2 NASB)
b. All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NASB)
c. At home, at Sunday School, on a break, etc
II. Practice God’s Word
a. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:9 NASB)
b. And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. (Hebrews 13:16)
c. Treat others rightly, be honest, don’t gossip, help others
III. Teach (or share) God’s Word
a. The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. (2 Timothy 2:2 NASB)
b. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20 NASB)
c. Share the Gospel with family, friends, etc
Application/Invitation: This is not a “magic formula” to have God’s hand of favor upon you. But these are the right things to do.
