Summary: When we take word "commission" and drop off the first letter, we have the word "omission." A slight change in spelling, but a serious change in meaning.
Evangelism is not a side line! It is the LIFELINE of the church.
When we take the word “commission” and drop off the first
letter, we have the word, “omission.” A slight change in
spelling, but a serious change in meaning.
What does the letter “C” stand for in the word COMMISSION?
I. “C” Stands for CONVICTION (a strong persuasion or belief;
the quality or state of being certain especially on the basis
of evidence)
A. All men are lost and need a Redeemer.
1. “All we like sheep have gone astray; we
have turned every one to his own way” (Isa.53:6).
2. Romans 3:23
3. Isaiah 59:2
4. When a church loses this conviction, indifference
and complacency settle in.
B. Jesus Christ is the only Redeemer.
1. “There is one God, and one mediator between God
and man, the man Christ Jesus” (I Tim.2:5).
2. John 14:6
3. Acts 4:12, “Neither is there salvation in any other:
for there is none other name under heaven given
among men, whereby we must be saved”
4. There aren’t many ways to God—only one.
II. “C” Stands for CONCERN
A. He was “moved with compassion when He saw the
multitudes, because they fainted and were scattered abroad
as sheep having no shepherd” (vs.36).
B. Romans 10:1, “Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to
God for Israel is, that they might be saved”
C. Romans 9:3, “For I could wish that myself were accursed
from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to
the flesh”
D. I read of thousands who sent hiccup remedies to the Pope to
aid him. How many are concerned about the lost?
III. “C” Stand for CONSECRATION
A. Possessions
1. Time
2. Talent
3. Energy
4. Assets
B. Personnel
1. Did you know that well over one million representatives of
Uncle Sam are in the Armed Forces and diplomatic and
technical services in other lands?
2. But only about 30,000 are across the seas representing
Jesus Christ
