Message Point: Jesus tells us plainly what to do while we are waiting for His return.

Focus Passage: Matthew 28:18-20

Supplemental Passage: but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." (Acts 1:8 NASB)

Introduction: When you were a kid, do you remember your mom or dad leaving for a short period of time and giving you a chore to have done before they returned? Could be as simple as taking out the trash or washing the dishes. Or it could have been as complicated as mowing the lawn or cleaning the whole house. The stated expectation was “please have the dishes washed before I get back from the store.” The parent set the expectation and the chore, and you as a kid were supposed to have it completed within the given time frame.

Application/Call to Obedience: Are you obeying the command of Christ to make disciples? Are YOU a disciple? The Bible says “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. (Romans 10:9-10 NASB)
