Summary: Take another look at the book, the great book of Hebrews!

Great things found in the Great book of Hebrews

Hebrews 2

As we read our Scripture in the book of Hebrews this morning I want to encourage you to take note that this is one of the greatest books in the Bible. I believe it is a great book because of what it speaks about:

(2) - Persevere in Suffering

(5) - Spiritual Maturity

(8) - The New Covenant

(11) - Roll Call of Faith

Within the Chapters of this book we can also find four great things, I would like to share those with you today:

I. A Great Salvation - Hebrews 2:3

Salvation is great!

a. A great conviction - can get your attention/ change your attitude, and give a different approach to life.

b. A great confession

c. A great change

d. A great completion (Heaven)- author and finisher

II. A Great High Priest - Hebrews 4:14

As we study the Old Testament we find that the High Priest would offer sacrifices and prayers fro God’s people. They had to do this on a regular basis, but now we have a Great High Priest! I don’t need an earthly priest, I don’t need a Pope! I’ve got Jesus!

Look at his ministry:

a. Infirmities (he knows our struggles)

b. Intercession

c. immediate help - comfort/ grace/ peace

d. Introduction of a permanent Sacrifice (5:9)

III. A Great Fight - Hebrews 10:30 - 33

Life is no bed of roses, no easy path to trod, it can be difficult and it can be hard. 1 Timothy 6:12,

2 Timothy 4:7

a. Satan

b. Self

c. Society

d. Be Careful not to war w/ other soldiers

IV. A Great cloud of Witnesses - Hebrews 12:1

As we run this great race, there are many running with us. They have similar needs, struggles and goals, yet they give us strength!

a. The New bring Enthusiasm

b. The Old bring Example

c. The Young bring Encouragement
