Summary: Choosing the right choice, so you may have a righteous living as God intended.

We all know that life is full of choices. Some choices lead to good prosperity and some lead to consequences. Sometimes in life we want to take the easy road out or the road less traveled. But is the decision you make the right choice or a bad ? to answer this question, we need to pray and ask God for guidance. This story portrays two men and one decision, one is a good chose the other not good at all. We start with the story of Abraham and Lot as they are coming out from Egypt. Here we will we see that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. This story is told in the book of Genesis 13:1-18 and Genesis 14:1-24.

Abraham had a brother named Haran, Haran died in Ur years back and Abraham was left to take care of his son Lot, which was his nephew. Abraham didn't have a son yet so he took Lot in and raised him like a son. Abraham was rich in cattle, land and silver and gold, so in essence so was Lot. They both worked together and worshipped together. One day Lot's herdsmen and Abraham's herdsmen were arguing because there wasn't any room for all their herds together. So Abraham, didn't want to fight because he loved him gave Lot a choice, He told Lot to choose which land he wanted. Genesis 13:9 Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left. Yes, the choices are presented to us, but what deity is behind the wheel when you make your choice? Here we will see what kind of choice Lot made. Genesis 13:10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan,(Beautiful land full of green grass) that it was well watered every where, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. There was the first mistake, Lot chose with lust in his eyes, he saw green lands full of grass and plenty of water and potential for more wealth by the big cities. Oh but how wicked it can be to leave a land to go and make your tent with sinners, Genesis 13:11-13 Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other. 12 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom. 13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.

I used to hear a quote from older wiser people that said "Not everything that glitters is gold" Let me tell you just because it looks good doesn't mean you have to go and follow that path. Satan is a deceiver and he will have a beautiful sign pointing down that says heaven this way, do not be fooled. 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Lot was not sober he chose the path and took his tent to Sodom. Now, here is the devil's plan in action once he has you where he wants you, a war broke out with the king of Sodom and Gomorrah Genesis 14:8 And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim; Lot was not expecting a battle he just wanted to go and enjoy a life where he though was nice and do business but that's not where God wanted for him. A pastor use to say "The devil sure makes you pay more than what you are willing to pay." in this next verse Lot gets taken and loses his possessions'. Gen. 14:12 And they took Lot, Abram's brother's son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed. Now, Lot is gone and broke, understand not only will the devil make you pay more but he will also make you go further than you are willing to go. Even though Uncle Abraham comes and rescues Lot, still Lot had to endure bad times and had to face his consequences for choosing a path that he thought was greener. Such ignorance of men to be fooled by the pretty things in life. Abraham was blessed because he prayed for his path he made an alter and seeked the kingdom of GOD first,(Mathew 6:33) although the land was full of hills and no water or good grass, still GOD showed favor to him because he let GOD guide him, and his land was blessed. Genesis 13:14-18 And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. 16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered. 17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee. 18 Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the Lord. Praise the Lord! I hope this message gives you the spirit to let the Holy Spirit guide you and make your tent with GOD. Just remember greener isn't always better and glitter isn't always gold, and always seek GOD for the right path in your life, GOD bless you.
