Summary: We've all hear the term "gospel" and we know it is "good news", so let's examine why this news is so life changing.
The Gospel
• Before the fall – fellowship with God
• God gives his instruction – Genesis 2:16-17
• Sin
o Entered the world through Adam and Eve – Genesis 3:1-19
? Naked and exposed
• Covered by the shedding of blood – Genesis 3:21
? The curse - death
o The Law is given – Exodus 20:1-17
? Sin covered by the shedding of blood – Leviticus 17:11
• Intentional sin – Leviticus 1:1-5
• Unintentional sin – Leviticus 4:27-29
? The sacrificial animal became the substitution
• Unblemished
• Innocent
o All have sinned – Romans 3:23
? God’s standard
? The law condemns
o The penalty for sin is death – Romans 6:23
• The Promise
o A deliverer would come – Genesis 3:15
o His death would deliver mankind from sin – Isaiah 53:4-6
• Jesus
o The fulfillment of the promise
? The angelic pronouncement to Joseph – Matthew 1:18-21
? The angelic pronouncement to Mary – Luke 1:30-31
? The angelic pronouncement to the Shepherds – Luke 2:11
o The sacrificial lamb
? The lamb of God – John 1:29-34

? God’s wrath poured out upon Him – Matthew 27:46

o Blood shed to pay the penalty of our sin

o The curse is broken
