Summary: A great sermon for baby dedications

The Gospel According to "baby’s name"

2 Cor. 3:2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:

3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

1 Thessalonians 5:27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.

Charge: to force to take an oath, which is a vow.

Eccl. 5:4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.

5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.

Three Charges this morning in the Gospel according to Mariah Danae Page

1. Charge to the Parents: the most important charge.

It is the parents that will have the most influence upon their children.

The Gospel according to Mariah Danae Page...

A. Charges that Dad and Mom first of all... BE SAVED

You cannot teach your child the ways of God if you don’t know them and follow them yourself

Jer. 2:33 Why trimmest thou thy way to seek love? therefore hast thou also taught the wicked ones thy ways.

If you’re not a Christian yourself, you cannot teach your child to be a Christian.

1 Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

We all understand there are church hypocrites...

BUT THE Gospel According to Mariah Danae charges

that Dad and Mom

NOT ONLY SAY THEY’RE SAVED...

But SHOW THEY ARE SAVED

YOU will never have true PEACE in your home unless

you have GOD in your HOME.

B) Secondly, the Gospel According to Mariah Danae Page

charges the Parents that they train their child in the ways of God

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Deut 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Don’t leave the teaching of God’s ways up to the Pastor or to the Sunday school teacher... Or to the child’s grandparents....

PARENTS... you have the responsibility to teach

your children the ways of God.

It is the home that was the first teaching institution

Is is the Home where the child needs to be taught and

corrected.

One day down the road, we may start a Christian school for the education of students...

BUT remember.... CHRISTIAN education begins in the

HOME.... the school is simply an extension of the home.

1 Timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

Provide: to take thought for, to care for, to have

Foresight.

Believe that this is not only dealing with the physical

aspect of provision, but also spiritual as well.

The Gospel according to Mariah Danae Page

charges that Dad and Mom show their child how to PRAY

Your child needs to hear you pray...

Needs to hear you get ahold of the throne of God.

Needs to hear you travail in prayer.

Needs to hear you call their name to the Lord in prayer

How many have we heard say,...”I remember hearing

my mother or father pray for me.”

“It was their prayers that caused me to turn to God.”

Old preacher friend... before he got saved... heard his wife praying for him one day. He had abused her, and she could take no more:

She prayed, “God save him or kill him.”

He ran out to the old barn hayloft, and called out to God

for salvation because he knew that God answered her

prayers, and he was afraid to die.

Oh that our children would have such confidence in our prayers!!!

The Gospel according to Mariah Danae Page charges that you teach your child how to read God’s word.

Don’t teach them that the newspaper is more imp. than

the Bible.

...or the t.v. guide... or Sports Illustrated...

You yourself need to know God’s word, so when your child asks you where a verse is,.... you don’t have to pull out the big concordance or call the pastor...
