THE GODLY SEED
Mal 2:11-16
Ruth 4:10-12
The focus of this message is the concept of the godly seed which is the core purpose why God instituted marriage. Everything that God intends to do, He starts with a seed. It is that seed that receives the engrafted word of God and produces the fruits that will cover the face of the earth. The ultimate plan of God is to fill the entire earth with the glory of God. Hab 2:14, Is 11:9.
The reason why God saved you and is keeping you alive is so that you will produce godly seed upon the earth that will succeed you here. That was why the first pronouncement that God made when he created man in Gen 1:28 was that he blessed man and said, be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, subdue it and have dominion. Then he placed man in the garden of Eden after he had formed him and breathed into his nostrils for him to dress it and to keep it. Verse 15. The word to dress came from the Hebrew word avad which means to work or to toil and to keep comes from the Hebrew word shamar which means to guard or to protect, or to watch over something. The idea is that God gave the duty to man to take charge of the garden in order for it to be productive. It is the principle of the seed. The garden of Eden was a seed of the kingdom of heaven which was to be replicated on the entire earth. It was also indicative of the truth that each person will be ceded a portion of the earth by God to take charge and to replicate heaven in.
The concept of marriage is therefore a prototype or indication of the process through which God intends for man to be able to effectively establish the kingdom of God here on earth. If you understand the mystery of marriage then you will understand the mystery of the church. I am sure that you are aware that the church is referred to as the bride of Christ. Rev 21:2 says John saw the holy city which represents the end time church coming down from heaven prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Verse 9 says and there came one out of the seven angels which had the vials full of the last seven plagues and talked with me saying, come hither, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife. Verse 10 says and he carried me away in the spirit to a great high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem descending out of heaven from God.
You will now begin to appreciate why God is very particular concerning marriages and why the devil attacks marriages and will everything to prevent you from getting married and from having a fruitful marriage. You will also begin to understand why so much is being done in these last days to compromise the institution of marriage because an appreciation of marriage is an understanding of the kingdom of God. There is so much power that resides in the place of matrimony that the devil cannot contend with. Anything that you do which erodes the basic ingredients of matrimony has immediate repercussions.
So, as soon as man was given his territory, the next thing that God did was to institute marriage as a process for entering into the fullness of the will of God. The first place that Jesus performed a miracle was the marriage feast of Cana. When it was time for God to bring forth the Christ he chose the set up of a new marriage. He was not the biological son of either Mary or Joseph but God still used them as a channel to bring forth the godly seed. Even in an imperfect arrangement, God stepped in and turned things around to do the most powerful thing ever. And it is the resurrection of Christ that we are celebrating today. This illustrates the immense capacity and possibilities that can arise from a godly seed. Ps 127:3 Lo children are a heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man, so are children of the youth.
5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them. They shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gates.
The desire of every believer is that he or she must ensure that he raises godly children. Even though marriage constitutes the best platform to achieve this the proof of maturity as a believer is to ensure that you are raising godly seeds. Your job is to invest the goodness of God in their lives and to ensure that they are brought up in accordance to God's nurture and admonition so that they will stand for the kingdom at all times.
