INTRODUCTION:

Debt is not only a financial issue but also a spiritual and emotional burden. It can enslave a person, steal their peace, and limit their destiny. Many believers find themselves owing in one form or another, not just money, but promises, duties, or righteousness. Yet, our God is the One who wipes out debts and restores freedom.

In 2 Kings 4:1-7, a widow cried out in desperation because her creditors were coming to take her sons as slaves. But through divine intervention, God turned her insufficiency into abundance. This same God still moves today to wipe out every debt: spiritual, financial, and emotional.

God does not desire His children to live in bondage or lack. He is a God of mercy, provision, and restoration. When we turn to Him in faith and obedience, He wipes away our debts and gives us a fresh start.

1. GOD SEES YOUR NEED AND HEARS YOUR CRY

Before any miracle begins, God first hears the cry of the afflicted.

a) God is moved by compassion (Exodus 3:7-8)

God is not distant from our pain. He sees every financial and emotional struggle and is ready to deliver.

b) Your cry attracts divine attention (Psalm 34:6)

The widow’s cry was a prayer of desperation that touched Heaven. A cry to God from a sincere heart always brings response.

c) God uses your situation as a platform for His glory (John 11:4)

What looks like a hopeless debt can become a testimony of God’s power when surrendered to Him.

d) Divine help often begins with a simple instruction (Isaiah 30:21)

God’s directions are keys to deliverance. Obedience to divine instructions opens the way to freedom.

Biblical Example: Hagar cried in the wilderness, and God opened her eyes to see a well of water (Genesis 21:14-19).

2. GOD USES WHAT YOU HAVE TO CREATE WHAT YOU NEED

Divine provision often begins with what seems insignificant.

a) God works through what is already in your hand (Exodus 4:2)

The widow had only a jar of oil, yet God multiplied it to pay her debts and sustain her family.

b) Nothing you have is too small for God to use (Mark 6:41)

Little becomes much when placed in the Master’s hands.

c) God turns insufficiency into abundance (Philippians 4:19)

He supplies all our needs according to His riches, not our resources.

d) Faith unlocks multiplication (2 Corinthians 9:8)

God’s provision flows when we trust and act in obedience.

Biblical Example: Jesus used five loaves and two fish to feed over five thousand (John 6:9-13).

3. OBEDIENCE IS THE KEY TO DIVINE DEBT CANCELLATION

Without obedience, faith remains powerless.

a) The widow followed the prophet’s instructions (2 Kings 4:3-5)

Her obedience to borrow vessels and pour out oil was her act of faith.

b) God honours obedience more than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22)

When you obey, God releases His power to accomplish what you cannot.

c) Partial obedience blocks divine flow (James 1:22-25)

The measure of your obedience determines the measure of your miracle.

d) True obedience flows from trust (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Even when God’s instructions seem unreasonable, trust His wisdom.

Biblical Example: Naaman’s obedience to dip seven times in Jordan brought total healing (2 Kings 5:14).

4. GOD CANCELS SPIRITUAL AND MATERIAL DEBTS

God not only meets financial needs but also wipes away spiritual debts through Christ.

a) Christ cancelled our spiritual debts on the cross (Colossians 2:14)

Our sins and failures were nailed to the cross, and we were made free.

b) God wants His children free from every form of bondage (Galatians 5:1)

Redemption is complete deliverance; spirit, soul, and body.

c) God empowers His people to lend and not borrow (Deuteronomy 28:12)

Financial dominion is part of our covenant heritage.

d) Divine restoration follows divine cancellation (Joel 2:25-26)

God restores what was lost and brings abundance where there was lack.

Biblical Example: The servant forgiven by the king in Matthew 18:23-27 illustrates God’s mercy in cancelling debts.

5. WHEN GOD WIPES YOUR DEBT, HE GIVES YOU A NEW BEGINNING

God’s deliverance always leads to restoration and abundance.

a) God’s mercy opens new chapters (Lamentations 3:22-23)

Every morning brings new opportunities for divine turnaround.

b) Your story changes when you obey divine instructions (Isaiah 1:19)

Willing obedience leads to abundance and peace.

c) God’s blessings overflow beyond your needs (Psalm 23:5)

When He intervenes, there’s always more than enough.

d) Your testimony becomes a source of faith for others (Revelation 12:11)

God turns your past debts into future testimonies of His faithfulness.
