INTRODUCTION:
Time is a divine creation. While humans often become anxious and impatient, God never loses track of time. He works according to His perfect schedule, not according to human haste. The delay we perceive is often preparation in disguise, positioning us for the manifestation of His promises.
Throughout Scripture, we see that God’s timing is flawless. From the creation story to the coming of Christ, every event unfolded exactly as ordained. What may seem late to man is right on time with God. His timing is not affected by our circumstances, emotions, or pressures.
Many believers become discouraged when their expectations tarry, but faith requires trusting the God who controls time. The God who never loses track of time is always on schedule, turning waiting seasons into testimonies of glory.
1. GOD CONTROLS TIMES AND SEASONS
God is the Lord of time; He ordains the seasons of life according to His divine wisdom and purpose.
a) God sets divine seasons – Ecclesiastes 3:1
God has appointed a time for every purpose. No situation is permanent; every phase of life operates under divine timing.
b) God’s calendar cannot be altered – Daniel 2:21
He changes times and seasons according to His will. No human force or demonic agenda can override divine timing.
c) Waiting is part of God’s process – Isaiah 40:31
Those who wait on God’s timing are strengthened rather than weakened. Waiting is never wasted when it is in God.
d) God’s delays are divine preparations – Habakkuk 2:3
Even if it tarries, it will surely come. God uses delay to build our faith and character.
Biblical Example: Abraham and Sarah waited for the promised child, and though the promise tarried, at the appointed time Isaac was born (Genesis 21:1-3).
2. GOD’S TIMING IS ALWAYS PERFECT
Human impatience can lead to error, but God’s timing is precise and purposeful.
a) God’s timing is not human timing – 2 Peter 3:8
To God, a thousand years is as one day. He is not bound by human calendars or deadlines.
b) Divine timing aligns with divine purpose – Romans 8:28
Everything works together for good when we are aligned with God’s will and timing.
c) Impatience leads to regret – 1 Samuel 13:8-14
Saul’s impatience cost him the kingdom. Moving ahead of God brings destruction.
d) God’s timing brings lasting results – Isaiah 60:22
When God acts, no one can stop it. His timing ensures perfect outcomes.
Biblical Example: Joseph’s rise to power came at God’s appointed time. The prison was part of his preparation for the palace (Genesis 41:39-44).
3. GOD REMEMBERS HIS PEOPLE AT THE RIGHT TIME
God never forgets His promises. He visits His people in due season.
a) God remembers covenant promises – Exodus 2:24-25
God remembered His covenant with Abraham and delivered Israel from bondage.
b) God remembers the faithful – 1 Samuel 1:19-20
God remembered Hannah and turned her tears into joy.
c) God’s remembrance brings restoration – Genesis 8:1
When God remembered Noah, He commanded the waters to recede. Divine remembrance changes situations.
d) God’s remembrance brings reward – Luke 1:57-60
Elizabeth conceived in her old age, proving that God is never late.
Biblical Example: Mordecai was remembered by the king at the perfect time, leading to his honour and the deliverance of the Jews (Esther 6:1-11).
4. GOD FULFILS HIS PROMISES IN HIS OWN TIME
No promise from God fails; every word spoken by Him is fulfilled at the appointed season.
a) God is not a man that He should lie – Numbers 23:19
His promises are trustworthy, and His timing flawless.
b) God performs what He has spoken – Jeremiah 1:12
He watches over His word to bring it to pass, not one jot will fail.
c) God’s fulfilment silences mockers – Luke 1:57-60
When the promise manifests, those who mocked will celebrate with you.
d) God’s promises require faith and patience – Hebrews 6:12
The faithful and patient always inherit the promises.
Biblical Example: At the fullness of time, God sent His Son Jesus Christ — the greatest fulfilment of prophecy (Galatians 4:4).
CONCLUSION:
God never loses track of time; He knows the end from the beginning. When you trust His timing, you rest in His sovereignty. What seems delayed is never denied. God is preparing something greater than you expect.
Hold on in faith, keep obeying, and keep serving. The same God who remembered Abraham, Joseph, and Hannah will remember you at the appointed time.
